Technical Progress And International Trade - China's Foreign Trade Growth Mode

Directed by the theory of economic growth, international trade (especially the new trade theory of endogenous technological progress as the core ) and international competitiveness, this thesis mainly analyzes and studies the present situation and problem of trade growth and technological progress in China. It combines together positive study and normative study with the practice of economy and trade growth after the reform and open policy in China. It also studies the system of mutual influence of technological progress and foreign trade in order to demonstrate the importance of technological progress in promoting international competitiveness. It also puts forward that technological progress should be the direction in China after detailed analyzing the motion trace of foreign trade and the changing trend of trade competitiveness. The thesis also stresses to improve the technological proportion of export product by adjusting and promoting the industrial structure and trade structure. In this way, the fine cycle of technological progress and trade and economic growth and the related policy suggestions of the steady and lasting growth in economy and trade can be realized.Because of the comparative big gap with other developed countries in technological progress, the export trade in China mainly spreads quantitatively, the technological proportion of export products and international competitiveness are low, the final product of intensive labor and resources in export still takes a large proportion. China still has the chance to confront "the trap of comparative advantage" and "the crisis of east Asia" still exists in China. Therefore, China is only a large trade country, and is not strong at present.After entering the 21st century, high technology changes with every passing day and the process of economy globalization is constantly quickening, and technological progress plays a vital role in the more and more competitive world. Then, how to promote technological progress and realize the fine cycle of technological progress and trade and economic growth on the basis of developing the existed comparative advantage in such a large developing trade country as China? How to adjust and promote industrial structure and trade structure, and improve technological proportion and trade competitiveness of export products by technological progress? And how to realize the steady and lasting growth in economy and trade as well as quickly become a strong trade country? This is an important problem of developing foreign trade in China in the new century. It is also the key task of this thesis.Economy and trade growth is always the focus of attention in the economic field. The attention to the relationship of technologicalprogress and trade and economic growth has already been paid during the process of studying the cause of trade and economic growth. This thesis develops the following five points on the basis of the results of former researchers.First, in order to master accurately the connotation of technological progress and the mutual relationship of technological progress and trade and economic growth, the first thing is to study the related concepts, motivation system, condition factors of technological progress and also analyze regressively the interrelation of economic growth and technological progress in input and output. On this basis an enlightening conclusion is made: China still has a comparative big gap with other developed countries in technological progress, as the time passes and the reward level of labor improves, the advantage of low labor cost will die away.
