A Study On Fundamentals Of Economical High-speed Railway And It's Methodology

Our economy needs transportation industry in strong support of its rapid and sustainable development. As an integral part of a synthetic transportation system, the railway sector is obligated to satisfy the needs of the economical development. Despite of the important role it played in our national economy over the past years, our railway sector, as a result of its small number of kilometerage, low speed and contradiction between traffic capacity and increasing traffic demand, has been hindering our national economy from developing, not to mention the disparity when compared with that in developed countries. To increase our traffic capacity and train running velocity we have to lose no time in filling the gap of high-speed railway.Based upon the above this thesis, considering both the market need for high-speed railway over the past two decades and investment problem that would arise, puts forward a new concept: Economical high-speed railway to be built. The thesis, in the light of our specific conditions, applies basic economics principles in combination with transportation theories, especially those of railway transportation, with how high-speed railways develop in developed countries as reference, to make a penetrating and systematic study into the fundamentals and methodology upon which the concept is based, working out some basic strategy and tactics.The thesis composes of nine chapters, with the main contents as follows:1.Define high-speed railway, indicate its category and its technical and economic features, and discuss about the impact of economical high-speed railway on giving impetus to economic construction and propelling the society forward; 2. Take a view of what high-speed railway construction is like abroad, use full and accurate data to assess the technical level reached and successful experiences obtained there, point out the problems our railway transportation is faced with, demonstrate the necessity and feasibility of building economical high-speed railway, and propose some tentative plans; 3. Make an analysis into the foundation of requirement for economical high-speed railway and the investment environment, illustrate how to have investment methods and channels diversified for the high-speed railway construction; 4. Work out basic fundamentals of building economical high-speed railway, give a description in detail of its technique and equipment selections, transportation organization and the link-up between an existing line and an economic high-speed railway; 5. By means of feature analysis of technical economy, set up an evaluation system of investment economy for economical high-speed railway construction.
