On Human Dignity

People's dignity sense came into being along with the appearance of human beings. Human enjoying dignity means he can win respect of and acceptance by society and others and he is able to exist honorably, have subject value and create his fate independently. The connotation of human dignity is wide and profound, and remains to be studied carefully and thoroughly. This article originally puts forward the concept of order dignity and the concept of human dignity in general meaning, which is an attempt to fire an adobe that constitutes thesystem of dignity theories,--though the adobe is immature and imperfect, rough and crude,it is novel and has special values.This article consists of eight chapters.The intent of Chapter One is to manifest the origin and meaning of the word "dignity". "Dignity" is a word with a long history and rich connotations. Not only the scopes that it is used are wide and broad, but also its meanings are complex and changeable. The meaning of this word varies with space-time and classification of language and culture. Even in the same nation or language, it has different meanings in different backgrounds or contexts. Therefore, seeking after the origin and meanings of the Chinese counterpart of "dignity" and analyzing the derivation and evolvement of the English word "dignity" can make it clear mat the original meaning of "dignity" is related to order, grades, privileges, taboos, etc. all the time.Chapter Two seeks after the evolvement of dignity concept in social ideology history and manifests the functions and effects of dignity concept during the process of human developing history. Looking into the history of human society, dignity concept has had a hard and long derivation course. Human wandered about the lair of order dignity for a long time and it was until recent times that subject dignity concept in general meaning came into being. In general, we can induce different history evolving forms of dignity concept with different research methods.
