To construct a socialist harmonious society is a great strategic task and target about Chinese development of society, which issued by the Party Central Committee. What kind of relationship are there between the Chinese traditional"He he"(harmony and correlates) thought and constructing socialist harmonious society? This is a problem with which we should deal seriously. It depends on the finishment of two works in order to solve this problem rationally. One is we must get an objective, accurate and all-round cognition about the traditional"He he"thought; the other is we should also have a profound understanding and exact grasping to the actual needs of the present practice of constructing a socialist harmonious society. Here a wrong doing that substitute the logic content with pragmatic usefulness must be avoided. In regard to the present situation, comparably speaking, the performance about the first work is weak. In view of this kind of situation and thinking way, this paper first make a interpretation on the traditional"He he"thought, including its implication, the thread of its evolution, its logic way. Secondly, it make an observation on the relationship between the traditional"He he"thought and the Chinese history development in order to grasp its mechanism of relationship. Finally, being aimed at constructing our socialist harmonious society, the paper inquires the room and conditions in which"He he"thought effect, and put forward to some countermeasures.The paper consists of the following parts.In introduction part, the author sets forth mainly the writing aims, the present situation of research topic, and the corresponding methods of researching. The paper points out that studying the traditional"He he"thought stems from the objective needs of constructing socialist harmonious society, that ideas which does not belong to the traditional"He he"thought can not be filled in and that its essentials of traditional"He he"thought should be grasped objectively. At present time, there are some shortcomings in the researching, and the research on the relationship between the traditional"He he"thought and the Chinese history development is not profound. The paper wants to make some breakthrough in these fields.In chapter one, the author expounds the implication and its thread of evolution of the traditional"He he"thought. The paper points out that the traditional"He he"thought is some kind of an idea system which takes shape gradually in the long Chinese history. The content of the system is mainly about the mutual communication between Heaven and Men, and the way how people getting along with each other. Correspondingly, there are two kernel categories in it .one is the relationship between Heaven and Men; the other is the relationship between people. Although dealing with the relationship is the main content of the traditional"He he"thought, it must comply with the law which exists in the relationship between Heaven and Men. And the law is just that Heaven and Men are one. The thread of its evolution is that although it is always permeated with the thought of Fate, the dynamic role of Man is gradually confirmed and augmented. Because of combination of the worship of Ancestor and that of the Highest, the imperial power has become the embodiment of Fate and held the controlling power of the social order. The Man in the phrase"Heaven and Man are one"is changed from common people to king or emperor and the like.Chapter two has analyzed the worldview, the society view and the characteristics of thinking way of the traditional"He he"thought. Its worldview is its ontological basis on which its society view is set up and determined. It thinks that the world as a whole is mutual-related, that all things are always in changing, and that the universe is a big changing stream. Heaven, Erath and Man are its kernel categories. The three interact each other, but basically speaking, the way of Man complies with the way of Heaven and the way of Earth. So, the social order must be in the direction of the order in the Heaven. This type of order stresses the difference between those of different grading and those of different place in order to achieve"Heaven and Man being one". The characteristics of its thinking way are the following: showing strong color of primitive thinking in its macro aspects; paying little attention to inner regulation of concept; achieving correlates from outside of things; seeking goodness, but not truth.In chapter three, the author discusses the influences that the traditional"He he"thought exerts on Chinese development of society in the history. In the beginning, this chapter analyzes the mechanism in which the traditional"He he"thought exerts its influence. It points out that it is through influencing the action of social subjects that"He he"though exerts its influence on the history. Influenced by the traditional"He he"thought, the subjects of Chinese society show two characteristics. One is paying attention to the difference between honorable and humble, senior and junior, to setting in one's place according to its grade. The other is stressing on"Making person". The main influence that"He he"thought exerts on the Chinese development of society are as the following: strengthening the ultra stable structure of society; making the autocratic society exist a very long time; constraining people's subjective conscientiousness and their personalities; hindering scientific development; making society lacking motive force; making people unable to look squarely at foreign countries.In chapter four, the author analyzes the relationship between the traditional"He he"thought and the Chinese modern development of society. It first confirms the very fact that traditional"He he"thought is still exerting its influence on modern china, and selects two special times as the vehicles for observing and analyzing. They are respectively the decade from founding to the Great Leap Forward and the decade of the Great Cultural Revolution. Basing on these, the paper points out the mechanism by which the traditional"He he"thought prolongs its influence. The main contents of this mechanism are as following: the relative independence of itself makes it possess great inertial function; the spreading and function of western civilization in the modern china are limited mainly in the upper classes and the intellectuals while the common people are less influenced; the cultivating and development of people's independent personality are hindered by the highly centralized economic system and political system. Finally, the paper analyzes the relationship between constructing socialist harmonious society and the traditional"He he"thought, and points out that solving this problem must be under the guiding of dialectical negation. Since the Reforming and Opening-up, the room and conditions for the"He he"thought exerting influence are continuously shrinking, but they are not ultimately perished. So we must deal seriously with it. The countermeasures the paper puts forward are mainly including the following: further making socialist market economic mechanism perfect in order to promote market economy forward; creating good conditions for promoting Chinese NGO forward, further promoting political restructuring in order to combine closely the Party's leadership with people's mastership.
