A Study Of The Relationship Between The Development Of The People's Political And Consultative Conference (PPCC) And The Construction Of A Harmonious Socialist Society

The construction of a harmonious socialist society is a strategic issue that has a bearing over the overall situation in China. While centering on the core issues of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in their routine work, the People' s Political and Consultative Conference (PPCC) at all levels must play their due roles in building a harmonious socialist society. From the perspectives of its historical development, functional extension and working mechanisms, the PPCC has its own unique merits. Therefore, there is a positively interactive relationship between the development of the PPCC and the building of a harmonious socialist society.This paper investigates into two problems, viz., how to deal with the PPCC history, its unique advantages and the ways of playing a part in the present from a viewpoint of a harmonious society, and how to further extend its social value and the space of developing the theory and practice on the PPCC by way of building a harmonious socialist society. As a matter of fact, there is a great gap between the PPCC popularity and its theoretical development; however, the concrete practices of building a harmonious socialist society will provide a new and practical stage for both its theoretical development and innovation of practices.The first part of this paper analyses, from a historical perspective, the process of the PPCC creation, development, and perfection, as well as its unity with the idea of a harmonious society. The second part focuses on the PPCC unique advantages and its priorities in building a harmonious society, also presents an in-depth study on the macro-issues to which special attention should be paid while the PPCC plays its part in constructing a harmonious society. The third part analyses in concrete terms the related issues in further perfecting the PPCC internal organs.
