The Study On The General Structure Of The Theoretical System Of Chinese Characteristic Socialism

Any theoretical system has a tight structure, without which it cannot become what it is. The theoretical system of Chinese characteristic socialism (CCS) is abundant in content and complicated in structure. Therefore it is of great significance both in theory and in practice to study the components and their logical relationship. On one hand, it can enhance the knowledge of its integrity, further clarify and rectify some misconceptions on Chinese characteristic socialism, so as to strengthen the confidence and resolution of the Party and the people to hold high the great banner of CCS and persist on the path of CCS. On the other hand, it can raise ideologically the guiding position of such strategic thoughts as Scientific Concept of Development; hence boost the consciousness and persistence in implementing them. In addition, to study the structure and summarize the attributes and rules of Chinese Model is helpful for reflecting the experiences as well as lessons of China's socialist construction from the perspective of International Socialist Movement, so as to promote China's leadership and referential significance for the developing countries in the process of modernization.To study the general structure of the theoretical system of Chinese characteristic socialism, the basic conditions based on which it came into being should above all be investigated. It dates back to the 1970s, when peace and development became the theme of the era. Economic globalization and new technological revolution progressed rapidly. Under such conditions, nations all over the world competed to take the lead of technical highland and attempted to enhance their leadership and have more say through their rapid development. Meanwhile, the increasing global problems faced by all human beings made it necessary for people in the"one-globe, two-system"world to choose peace and cooperation rather than war and hostility when settling conflicts and controversies. The theoretical theory of Chinese characteristic socialism originates ideologically from Marxism in that its general concepts, realm, principles and laws all derived from this theory. However, only by associating with China's reality, can Marxism, initiated in German, take root and sprout on the land of China. Therefore, it is unlikely to develop and become enriched without the nurture of traditional Chinese culture. Of course, it cannot do either without inheriting and developing Mao Zedong Thought, which is a direct source of its theory. As to the practice basis, the theoretical system of Chinese characteristic socialism sums up the socialist practice since China's opening up policy, draws experiences and lessons from the 30-year Chinese socialist construction since the founding of the People's Republic of China, as well as from that of the former USSR and other socialist countries.The theoretical system in itself blends such realms as philology, political economics, and scientific socialism, covering economics, politics, science & technology, education, culture, race, military affairs, diplomacy, united front, Party building, etc.. Its content is profound and will expand and be enriched with the development of practice. Sticking to the basic principles of scientific socialism and combining the reality of China's development, the theoretical system pioneered a socialist path with Chinese characteristics, initially settled systematically the biggest historic topic in contemporary society--- how the economically and culturally underdeveloped nations construct, consolidate and develop socialism, and enriched as well as developed Marxism with a series of new concepts and ideas. To further understand such a giant theoretical system, the first thing is to get hold of its skeleton, get clear of its context, master its spirit, locate its horizontal and vertical coordinates, i.e., grasp its general structure. Its spirit, including subject, essence and core, embodies its neat formation and logicality. Its subject, building and developing Chinese characteristic socialism, is of guiding significance in the skeleton and runs through the whole theoretical system. Its essence, emancipating the mind, seeking truth from facts and keeping pace with the times, is to the system as the soul to the body. With essence, the theory becomes full of vitality; without essence, there would be no theory at all. Its core, taking people as the foremost, interprets scientifically the governing idea of the Communist Party of China, reflecting the purpose and value orientation of CPC's governance. As the spirit of the theoretical system, the subject, essence and core have been internalized in the whole process of China's socialist construction and play a guiding role in practice. To view longitudinally, the theoretical system of Chinese characteristic socialism takes three theoretical forms: Deng Xiaoping Theory, Three Represents and Scientific Concept of Development. These strategic thoughts combined the basic principles of Marxism with the reality of Chinese characteristic socialism at different phases and made respective contributions in exploring and answering the fundamental questions of Chinese characteristic socialism. Therefore it's quite necessary to study the three thoughts respectively. According to the time sequence when the three thoughts were formed and their historic roles, Deng Xiaoping Theory is the basic theoretical form of the theoretical system of Chinese characteristic socialism, Three Represents is the developing form, and the Scientific Concepts of Development is its latest achievement. But all of them are fruits on the big theoretical tree of Marxism localized in China. They all apply the standpoints, perspectives and methods of Marxism, persist in Marxist principles and represent the unity between and development, carrying forward the undertakings of the predecessor and opening up a new road for future. Therefore, they must be taken as a whole while being studied respectively. A historically developing viewpoint is always needed to avoid such mistakes as separating or opposing them. To study the longitudinal structure of the theoretical system of Chinese characteristic socialism helps to interpret with a historically developing view the relationship among the three theoretical forms---coming down in one continuous line and keeping pace with the times.To view laterally, the theoretical system of Chinese characteristic socialism is made up of abundant principles, which are all indispensable elements but have different positions and play different roles in the system. Only by clarifying the connotation of each basic theory and the background under which it was put forward, its position as well as roles in the whole theoretical skeleton, can we remain clear-minded in applying it to practice, being both focused and integrated in constructing socialism. To understand the lateral structure of the system more accurately, we can divide the thirteen principles into three dimensions. The first dimension consists of the basic principles on the theoretical ground, including theories on nature of socialism, primary stage of socialism, dynamics of socialism and ideological guideline of CPC. The second dimension concerns with some principles on the main contents, including theories on socialist marketing economy, socialist democratic politics, socialist advanced cultures, harmonious socialism. The third dimension comprises of some principles on security, including theories on socialist development strategy, socialist diplomacy and international strategy, socialist military and national defense, socialist relying forces, socialist governing party construction. To view laterally, the thirteen principles unfold in three dimensional sequences from the introvert to the extravert around the center--- the spirit of the theoretical system. To view longitudinally, they are all derived from the basic conditions where the theoretical system came into being, linking up with Deng Xiaoping Theory, Three Represents and the Scientific Concept of Development. They not only join the three great thoughts together, but also propel the subsequent development and expansion of the theoretical system of Chinese characteristic socialism with the extension of time and space.
