| The purpose of this paper is to deeply analyze innate characters of performance of pick and roll on modern basketball games through the mode of notational analysis. On this basis, the writer puts the relative research results used in practical aspects, such as judgement of performance of pick and roll on basketball game, optimal design of pick and roll training methods, etc. The object of the research is performance of pick and roll from46worldwide male basketball games including2008Olympic Male Basketball games,2011FIBA Male Basketball World Championship,2011European Male Basketball Championship and2011South America Male Basketball Championship. The concrete researching methods are review study, video analysis, data processing and expert interviews. The main results are the following:1.Results of association rule data mining are that Quick Roll or Fake Pick of pick and roll's player without ball before screening is contributed most to Synchronization of Screen's Occurrence; Synchronization of Screen's Occurrence has significant influence on Handle Ball After Screen, and the better Synchronization of Screen's Occurrence, the higher quality of Handling Ball After Screen.2. Results of repeated measures are that the disparity of total frequency of pick and roll among three worldwide basketball championships is relatively large(F=36.85, P=0.000); Changes of Adaptable Movement of pick and roll's player without ball before screening and of Synchronization of Screen's Occurrence are very significant; The stage of the most active change of pick and roll is2011European Male Basketball Championship and2011South America Male Basketball Championship.3. Through cluster analysis, as well as calculating class center of every best team all over the world and every indexes' weights of every best team all over the world, the writer found that the performance of Pick and roll in Argentina team is simple and practical, the team is good at pick and roll's player without ball initiatively changing movement before screen and pick and roll's ball player acting in emergency after screen; Lithuania team emphasizes on creating high quality Synchronization of Screen's Occurrence and then acquiring good offence opportunity by way of effective coordination of pick and roll's players before screen, and also is good at taking advantage of quick or slow performance rhythm to grasp and even make offence opportunity. Coordination in Lithuania team is relatively systematic, and other players except pick and roll's players have good collaborative awareness;Spain team is good at team work, and prone to adopting Systematic pick and roll to reach the good effectiveness of pick and roll in the whole tactics; The whole level of pick and roll in Serbia team needs breakthrough because ball player of pick and roll has a poor physical ability, the way of pick and roll is not reasonable, and some of collaboration possesses the weak point; American team is not a typical team of pick and roll for offence or get free from defence; Greece and Russia are bssically good at pick and roll, and have space for improvements; The level of pick and roll in Turkey team is lower-middle; French team needs to enhance collaboration awareness for ball player of pick and roll as well as improves Handle Ball After Screen; Slovenia team makes pick and roll too active but little clever; Brazil team depends too much on shot during pick and roll; Chinese team's pick and roll is fully behind and needs to work hard for enhancement.4. A result of expert interviews shows that optimal design for training methods of pick and roll is qualified on four dimensions, such as system, target, effectiveness and operability, and is able to provide constructive instruction for various kinds of basketball team.5. Notational analysis is not only utilized in analyzing complexity of performance in basketball match, but also it has big space for exploration and development as one kind of research mode.
