Analysis On The Pick And Roll Defend In The Top Four Teams In China Basketball Association In Season2012—13

The pick and roll, as an effective team work, is more and more popular in the all kinds of basketball games now, which usually is used more than once in an attacking round. Equally, it makes the defense for it important as well. By studying video, visiting experts, collecting relative information, I made an analysis about the defense again pick and roll in the semi final and final games in China Basketball Association2013, and came to the conclusions as below:For most China Basketball Association teams, the defense against pick and roll usually happens in the area1,2and3, mostly in area2.The pick and roll usually happens in the period of second19～15. In another word, it happens once the ball is in the back court. The defense against it,44%of them happens in the period of second19-’15,32.9%of them happens in the period of second14-10. The pick and roll could happen in the first beginning of every attacking round, which also could happen more than once in each round.In many methods of defending the pick and roll, switching and passing is the most popular, with a percentage of34and26.8On one hand, as an effective attacking method, pick and roll could be used better in current China Basketball Association games; on the other hand, the exercise of how to defend it also need to be improved accordingly.
