The Structures Of Conflict & Its Boundaries

The social conflict is one of the most common social phenomena of the human society. In modern society, a considerable social conflict is virtually unavoidable, especially in China, which is undergoing great changes in the social transformation. With the empirical accumulation of our country in handling the actual social conflicts, the group conflict in which people take collective actions to challenge the governments at the fundamental level is one of the important ways of expression in the transforming society, which to a certain extent subjectively reflects the re-allocation of the social interests and the current situation of the social order.By probing into an individual case, this dissertation takes the July 7 Event occurring in S County as the objective study. Stirred by the allocation of social interests, it is a collective conflict intermingling with contradicts, collisions and even a large-scale resistance. Methodologically, this dissertation will adopt the theory of the social conflict and the boundary analysis to study the subtle relationship shown in the informal parties of interests in confronting the social conflicts and tries to trace the true origins that result in their respective choices under the common circumstances and the synthesized temporary program that can be applicable. And thereby we can study the component factors that have caused the conflict and its logic of conformity, explain the interplay of the institutional establishments and the transforming process of the plural conflicts and thus we can better understand the micro basis of the social structure that can affect the social conflict.In this dissertation the core concept of the boundary conflict has been brought forward; some modes of the dynamic analysis of the boundary conflict have been presented. As the theoretical device to study this case, the conflict is categorized into the domains of the dynamic boundary analyses to unveil that the social conflict is a demeanor that mutually controls and affects the various parties involved in the conflict in the terms of interests, powers, rights, systems and other spatial boundaries etc. Because of faintness in and beyond the boundary , short of the control and correspond mechanism, boundary will become low effect and out of order, then the social conflict turn into reality.The dissertation stresses the roles that the involved parties of interests play, their interest orientation, their psychologies and demarches shown in the conflict combat and their tactical choices through the analysis of the July 7 Event. The complex relationship between the disintegrated interest parties and their identities has resulted in the vague overlapping of the various powers and their powers and rights and the compatibility of the systemic rules and non-systemic measures. As the study reveals, the spatial imbalance of the boundaries of powers and rights, which is caused by the conflict between the interest parties and the dysfunction of the governments at the base level, is the very essential roots of the social conflicts.
