John Dewey(1850-1952) was the most famous thinker of Chinese-Merican cultural exchange in the 20th century. He visited China and gave lecture by invitation coincidentally during the MAY FOUTH period. It was the favourite opporitunity moment that spread Dewey's theory very widely over China, that influenced on a lot of aspect of Chinese socity deeply, such as Politics, Economy, Culture and so on. Among them, it is Chinese education that was influenced most profoundly. Cultural exchange is mutural, as well as influence. Chinese journey also made far-reaching influence on Dewey. But in comparison with the writings of Dewey's influence on China layer upon layer without an end, the writing of Chinese journey influence on Dewey is almost nothing. Viewed from the perspective of education, this dissertation not only reseaches into the influence of Chinese journey on Dewey, but also tries to probe the root of above phenomenon thoroughly.Viewed from the perspective of the "dialogue" theory, the "attitude" is key investigation item of "Dewey and Chinese education" reseachment in this dissertation. "Dialogue" doesn't refer to some concrete alternately speaking among some performers in this reseachment, it makes known a kind of attitude between the "follow blindly" and the "confront blindly" in the theory, it emphasizes on the "relationship of dialogue". This dissertation makes a description of Dewey's attitude to Europe cultural and educational heritage, and to American society and edcation, analyses the position transformation of Dewey's educational thought in world education, investigates the attitude of Chinese education to Dewey and his educational thoughtin different histroial period....... The purpose is to illustrate that we should adopt a correctattitude towards the relationship between "tiadition" and "importation". In order to accmplish the Chinese native education and educational theory construction in the golablize stage, we should pose to dialogue equally and tolerably.
