Partnership is a popular construction-management approach among some developed contries and regions in recent years. Though it had been advocated widely, not all partnering projects meet their prior targets. The question of how to utilize it successfully is still a 'black-box' for involved parties, and thus caused many focuses on it. There were many scholars tried to resolve it from using advanced managing tools, and made a lot of valueble contributions on it. On the other hand, some experts and scholars also pointed out that, as a delivery approach, the successful application of partnership are not only caused by the factors of management mechanism, but also by the factors of project and participants. This research aims to investigate the 'specified conditions for specified projects' of partnership under such concept of it, and try to provide an applicability-evaluation system of partnership. It is thought that the evaluation system will be helpful for Clients, Contractors and Construction professionals in gaining further guidelines when they need to decide whether utilize partnership in a particular project. For above purposes, the main research contents and conclusions are as follows:1. An evulation system is presented that help to determine partnering use by evaluating factors under project, involved organizations and management mechanism dimensions. Through a review on relative literatures within this field, this dissertation indentifed factors influenced the success of partnering use from project, involved organizations and management mechanisms dimensions. Then, it also pointed out some new evaluation factors under each dimensions to improve the evaluation system, and suggest a set of objective measures.2. Four research hypothesis are presented out: (1) The successful of partnering is positive to the noncommercial characters of a particular project in delivering phase; (2) The successful of partnering is positive to the ability of involved organizations in delivering phase; (3) The successful of partnering is positive to the noneconomics expectations of partnering organizations; (4) The successful of partnering is positive to the incentivsims used in a particular project. Through a History Comparative Analysis method, 30 successful using partnering projects are analysed and the results indicate that all hypothesis are positive to the successful...
