Different foreign investment policies have different effects on the interests of host country. Trade Related Investment Measures (TRIMs) is one of host country's foreign investment polices as well as the main concern of WTO. This thesis, with TRIMs that host country takes and theories related as research objects, conducts an overall and systematical research on TRIMs from aspects of theory and model, beginning from the definition and categories of TRIMs, and there is model analysis on the effects that local content requirements impose on host economy's development as well. Based on such, comparative and empirical analysis is made on the effects that TRIMs, exemplified by auto industry. On the basis of analyzing the bilateral effects between host TRIMs and TNCs, the thesis conducts brief analysis of related cases. The main purpose of this thesis is to analyze and predict the development and changes of TRIMs, thereafter making up with the adjusting strategy of development countries' foreign investment policy and systematically study and devise the frame of China's foreign investment adjusting.Contents:Introduction: research issues, related definitions, theories and practical significance, brief summary of the innovations on TRIMs studying and the directions of further studying.Chapter 1 Brief Summary of Current Research ThesesThis chapter involves comparative and empirical academic comments on theoretical and empirical researches in this field, including:1) Comments on national and international research theses related to TRIMs, TRIMs definitions and working mechanism; summary of TRIMs research methods.2) Classification of theses related to local content requirement, defining Local Content Requirement and its welfare effect, introduction of representative academic achievements.Chapter 2 TRIMs Theory and Model AnalysisAt the beginning, this chapter expounds FDI, foreign investment policy and related theory frame of host economy's development from the angle of host country. The most important part of this chapter is focused on the effects that TRIMs have on host economy, especially how local content requirements, the major form of TRIMs, affect host economy's development.Chapter 3 Analysis of TRIMs' Economic Effects: Auto Industry CaseThis chapter includes analysis of TRIMs' economic effects exemplified by auto industry and discussion of both TRIMs' effects in other countries and China's auto policy and its effects.Chapter 4 Bilateral Effects Between TRIMs of Host Country and TNCsTRIMs of host country arise to avoid the limitation on TNCs and have effect on the adjustment of host country's foreign investment policy. Win-win situation could be achieved only through overcoming the Prisoner Dilemma.Chapter 5 The Trend of TRIMs Development and the Strategy of Developing Countries' Foreign Investment PolicyThis chapter says that host country should carry out researches on the economic effects of TRIMs and take measures to develop its economy. From the theoretical analysis mentioned above, discusses the changes of TRIMs, makes forward research and expounds the adjustment strategy of host country and developing countries' foreign investment policy in the new frame of free investment. In order to adapt for globalization and the free development of international investment, China should make serious research on TRIMs, fully exploiting legal and effective TRIMs policy and actively adjust its foreign investment policy.Chapter 6 Conclusion and Discussion on Further Research of TRIMs IssuesThis chapter summarizes main points of view and conclusions in this paper and carries out basic discussion on further research of TRIMs issues.
