In Qin and Han dynasties, there was a flourishing development for regional agricultural development. In that period, it not only had laid the foundation for traditional agricultural development, but also was an important componential part of the connotation of the boom in that period. Regional development at that period boasted priorities in its inner driving force and solid foundation, involving its centralized political system, agri-economic development, advancement in agri-technology, transformation of thinking, etc. the regional development spread over vast areas, such as the northwest, regions south to the Changjiang River, the southwest, and the Lingnan. Due to different natural conditions and historical backgrounds, its strategic significance in the centralized political system, the regional agricultural development in Qin and Han Dynasties showed some generality and diversity as well. It also showed special-temporal differences in development contents, connotation, orientations, and development efficiency, thus to lay the framework for social and economic development in traditional stage. The regional agricultural development in Qin and Han Dynasties was not an isolated phenomenon; it had been closely related to ecological variances, migration and integration of different nationalities, cultural and technological communications, and other factors. It had not only promoted the regional social and economic development, but also had great impact on the civilization of the society as a whole.ⅠThe built-in driving force and groundwork for regional agricultural development in Qin and Han Dynasties The study placed the regional agricultural development as an integral part of the whole social system, analyzed the development from technological, economic, political and cultural aspects, expounding the influence of the establishment of core agri-areas and basic economic areas, the general development of the social economy, the development of traditional agri-technology, the establishment of unified and centralized political systems, the agriculture-centered development strategy, the changes of political ideology, etc.ⅡDevelopment of regional agricultural development in that period Based on its territory and practical incidence of control, the study made systematic analysis about the agricultural development and management in the northwest, areas south to the Changjiang River, the Lingnan, the southwest, the northeast, respectively. On one hand, the study tried to understand the development continuity, local characteristics of a specific area, on the other, explored the general features of regional agricultural development in that period.ⅢDevelopment patterns and special-temporal diversities Firstly, this article tried to summarize the general operational mechanism and basic patterns of regional agricultural development in Qin and Han Dynasties, including the major gradient development pattern, and the beachhead development pattern, spot-spindle development pattern, leap-forward development patterns and other less significant patterns as supplements. Secondly, through comparative analysis, the differences among different development patterns were explored; including the regional and special differences resulted from differed natural conditions, development levels, significances attached to by governments, the scheduling arrangements of development in different regions in Qin, West Han and East Han Dynasties. Causal analysis was also conducted.ⅣMacroscopically survey of regional agricultural development in that period The main features of regional agricultural development in that period were surveyed firstly, that is to be holistic, agricultural–based, gradient transfer, regional imbalanced, and adjustable measures to local conditions. Then, the essay analyzed the historical significances of specific operations. The running of regional agricultural development was not an isolated historical phenomenon; it had been closely related to the local natural conditions, and other social and economic influences. It was an system with mutual influence and restriction. Therefore, it was quite necessary to investigate the regional development as an integral part of the whole social and economic system, specify its orientation in and influences on social and cultural development of whole society. The study involved the following six aspects: the relations between agricultural development and regional economy, between regional agricultural development and social civilization, between regional agricultural development and nationality migration and integration, between regional agricultural development and the differentiation and conformity of agri-culture, between regional agricultural development and communication of agro-technology. Finally, the experience of regional agricultural development at that period was summarized. It would be of great referential significance for current regional development, agricultural development in particular. ⅤProblematic pondering on regional agricultural development Based on holistic analysis, the key problems in regional agricultural development in that period were explored, including the relations between human and nature, geographical conditions, strategic options based the theories of"the heaven, the earth and human", the relation between regional development ecology. Taking the relation between animal husbandry and agricultural development in the northwest as example, the article points out that the development of animal husbandry and agriculture is a mutually influencing dynamic process. The existing of inter-weaving belt for animal husbandry and agriculture in the confronting of agriculture and grazing at that period was also explored , and pointed out that this area is a marginal social system possessing characteristic features in its economy and culture.
