It is one of the key goals of the economic development of our country to realize industrialization. Manufacturing industries are the foundation of sustainable development of our national economy as well as the engine of industrialization and modernization of our country. Informatization is the inevitable choice for our country to realize industrialization and modernization. As a result, it is necessary to accelerate industrialization by means of informatization, and promote informatization via industrialization. After the entry of WTO, domestic manufacturing enterprises have been facing the omni-directional challenges from the international market directly and roundly. Informatization is the only road for domestic manufacturing enterprises to improve competitiveness so as to meet those challenges.Informatization of manufacturing enterprises is a process in which a network information platform is constructed with modernized information technologies, network technologies, automation technologies, and communications technologies; in which enterprises can realize networkized and informatized management of their logistics, capital flow, information flow, and work flow in each link such as production, management, innovation, circulation, and service through the application of modern information technologies; in which the production, operation and management of enterprises can be improved, and the competitiveness of enterprises can get enhanced through the development and utilization of information resources. As a result, we hold that a profound research on the technology choice and construction modes of the informatization of manufacturing enterprises is of great practical value.This dissertation makes use of the theories of tech-economics, econometrics, management science, and information science to discuss the technology choice and construction modes of the informatization of manufacturing enterprises. Qualitative analysis, quantitative analysis, and case study are adopted in the dissertation, the main topics of which are as follows:1. The relevance of informatization to the development of manufacturing enterprises;2. The mechanism through which information technology promotes the proliferation of enterprise value;3. The technology choice of the informatization of manufacturing enterprises;4. The construction modes of the informatization of manufacturing enterprises;5. Measures to accelerate the informatization of manufacturing enterprises in our country.The dissertation is composed of the following eight chapters:Chapter One is the introduction to the dissertation. It mainly discusses the background and significance of the dissertation, gives a comprehensive review of the relevant research works at home and abroad, defines the object and scope of the research, and makes a general exposition on the methods and structure of the dissertation.Chapter Two is an overview of relevant theories. It introduces the relevant theories of value chains, of technology choice, and of enterprise informatization.Chapter Three touches on the relations between informatization and the development of manufacturing enterprises. It deals with the promotive effects of informatization on the development of manufacturing enterprises. A model of competitiveness of manufacturing enterprises based on informatization is constructed. Management informatization is the core of enterprise informatization as well as the foundation for the construction of informatization of manufacturing enterprises. The model of competitiveness of manufacturing enterprises based on informatization involves five elements, that is, technology innovation ability, management and strategic decision-making ability, enterprise culture and organizational management, resources development ability, and work flow.Chapter Four is concerned with the technology choice of informatization of manufacturing enterprises. It mainly explores the concept and contents of information technology in manufacturing enterprises, the value-adding mechanism of information technology in manufacturing enterprises, the principles and methods of technology choice for manufacturing enterprise informatization, the index system of technology choice for manufacturing enterprise informatization, and the methods which are adopted to measure the value of information technology. The basic principles for technology choice are principle of being scientific, principle of being advanced, principle of being economical, principle of being applicable, principle of being reliable, and principle of being sustainable. Integrated technology roadmapping approach of informatization of manufacturing enterprises consists of six steps or stages: requirement capture, benchmarking, technology watch, project generation, project evaluation, and portfolio optimization. Integrated technology roadmapping system is an advanced technology choice pattern. It points out the way for the technology choice of manufacturing enterprises.Chapter Five focuses on the construction modes of informatization of manufacturing enterprises. It comes up with the construction mode of informatization of manufacturing enterprises based upon product overall lifecycle and the construction mode of informatization of manufacturing enterprises in strategic alliance. It analyzes information integration of enterprise information portal with computer-aided design, information integration of CAD with PDM, and information integration of product date management with enterprise resource plan. A system model based on product overall lifecycle and BOM model in product overall lifecycle are established. Product overall lifecycle management combines organically advanced management idea and first-class information technology in industrial and commercial operation of modern enterprises. Accordingly, enterprises can adjust effectively their operating measures and management styles, thus bringing into play unprecedented competitive advantages. Product overall lifecycle management refers to the whole life course from the demand for the products of people to the replacement of the products, including product demand analysis, product plan, concept design, product design, digital emulation, process preparation, process plan, manufacturing testing, quality control, sales and distribution, use and maintenance, scrape and retrieve, etc. From the perspective of outside information integration, the dissertation advances the idea of integrating the outside resources from cooperative partners, suppliers, or customers. In other words, it proposes the notion of realizing the information integration outside the enterprise in different stages of product lifecycle, such as design, production, workshop, and commerce.Chapter Six is the case study, which mainly concentrates on the realization process of the construction mode of informatization of manufacturing enterprises based upon product overall lifecycle and the construction mode of informatization of manufacturing enterprises in strategic alliance..Chapter Seven proposes macro, medium and micro measures to promote informatization of manufacturing enterprises in China.Chapter Eight draws the conclusion and makes the prospect. It gives a summarization of the achievements and conclusions of the dissertation. At the same time, it points out the deficiency of the research and the possible directions for future research.
