The topic of this thesis is Theory and Case Study on the Foreign Direct Investment Based on New-Type Industrialization. The research initiates from the two basic strategies of economic development of the central government which are New-type Industrialization and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), establishes the theoretical basis of FDI based on new-type industrialization, and proves the the theory in way of case study.This thesis consists of six chapters, including introduction, outline of relevant theories, theoretical framework of FDI based on new-type industrialization, guidelines and methods of case study, case study, conclusion and prospect. The first chapter is introduction,which demonstrates the back ground, significance and present situation of the research, and determines the subject, contents and methods.The second chapter is outline of relevant theories, which sets up the fundamental theoretical basis supporting the research on the relations between FDI and new-type industrialization after analyzing the present relevant theories such as sustainable development theory, information theory, economic growth theory, foreign investment theory, etc.The third chapter is theoretical framework of FDI based on new-type industrialization, which establishes the theoretical framework of FDI based on new-type industrialization emphasizing on the relation and effectiveness between FDI and new-type industrialization after studying the concept and characteristics of new-type industrialization, the concept, mode and affective factors of FDI based on the research of the second chapter. It includes the following contents:1. According to the report of the 16th CPC National Congress, the new-type industrialization is identified as industrialization with high scientific and technological content, good economic benefit, low resource consumption, little environment pollution, and full use of human resources motivating by information. It requires science and technology fully playing an important role in development. In the principles of sustainable development, science and education development and harmony regional development, it demands coping with the relations between hi-tech industry and traditional industry, capital and technology oriented industry and labor oriented industry, e-business and entity business, and forms the industry system geared with hi-tech, supported with traditional and manufacture industries, and fully developed with service industry. The new-type industrialization is proposed by the central government after analyzing the past experiences of china's industrialization and present situation of the whole world, which has the following characteristics:. sustainable development. information. scientific and technological improvement. human resource advantage. harmony regional development. optimal industrial structure. opening-up based on mutual investment. benefit from economic development2. FDI refers to the economic activities or capital flow of such activities which investment entity from one country intends to acquire the operation right of foreign enterprise or project with cash, material or technology in way of establishing or merging foreign enterprises. There are three affective factors on FDI, which are social and economic environment, scientific and technological and information environment, natural and cultural environment. Concerning the most affective factors, the research is based on the factors including government support, economic development, industrial adjustment, science and technology, information acquirement, natural resources and human resources.3. Based on the characteristics of new-type industrialization and affective factors on FDI, new-type industrialization and FDI is related in subject on sustainable development, industrial structure optimization, scientific and technological innovation, human resource utilization and information.4. Base on the relations in target between the new-type industrialization and FDI, the re-action of FDI on the new-type industrialization is concluded and verified. The new-type industrialization can benefit from FDI in way of resource acquisition, industrial structural optimization, scientific and technological innovation, human resource utilization and information acquisition.The fourth chapter is guidelines and methods of case study, which identified the purpose, subject, object, index system, methods and guidelines of the following case study on the relation and effectiveness between the new-type industrialization and FDI, based on the research of the third chapter.The fifth chapter is case study, which includes two aspects: one is on whether the new-type industrialization is in line with FDI in order to provide reference to the future FDI based on the new-type industrialization; the other is on the effectiveness of FDI on the new-type industrialization in order to provide reference to the future FDI planning, based on the study of amount and technical effectiveness of FDI on the new-type industrialization. The case study draws the following conclusion:1. In a long term, it is related between FDI and overall development standard of the new-type industrialization, and between FDI and the situation of sustainable development, industrial optimization, scientific and technological innovation, human resource utilization and information respectively, based on the study of the data from 1996 to 2005..2. In a short term, it is not related between FDI and overall development standard of the new-type industrialization, and between FDI and the situation of sustainable development, industrial optimization, scientific and technological innovation, human resource utilization and information respectively with the method of Granger.3. It supports the case study on objective correspondence between FDI and new-type industrialization that FDI is related with overall and respective component developing standard in a long run. On one hand, the FDI is in line with new-type industrialization in objective in the long term both in theory and in case study. On the other hand, case study indicates that FDI is not related with the overall and respective component developing standard in the short term., which demonstrates the two parts is not in line with in objective. It proves that china should insist of the two economic strategies which are new-type industrialization and internationalization.4. Case study in method of DEA with the data from 1996 to 2005 indicates that FDI is not DEA effective with new-type industrialization and sustainable development, industry optimization, scientific and technological innovation, human resource development and information except 2000. Moreover, the ineffectiveness is on scale not on technique with the increasing scale. Technical effectiveness indicates that the structure of input and output is reasonable, and there is no input surplus or output shortage. The conclusion indicates the shortage of FDI in scale in the past 10 years from 1996 to 2005. In the future, in order to be in line with the demand of new-type industrialization, FDI should be improved in scale appropriately.5. From the theoretical and case study, the characteristics of new-type industrialization make the FDI aiming at sustainable development, industrial optimization, scientific and technological innovation, human resource development and information modernization so as to make the two parts correspondent in objective by affecting the FDI environment. The two parts develop and improve simultaneously and harmoniously. Moreover, the new-type industrialization benefit from FDI in way of natural resource acquisition, industrial optimization, scientific and technological innovation, human resource development and information modernization, which indicates FDI is an effective path approaching new-type industrialization. Anyway, the comparative relation between the two parts is not satisfied because of the insufficient FDI scale. In the future, FDI should be enhanced so as to improve the mechanism of its support to new industrialization, and fulfill the development harmoniously between the FDI and new-type industrialization.The sixth chapter is the policy research, which mainly includes sustainable development policy, industry policy, science and technology policy, human resource policy, information policy, laws construction policy, financial service policy and institution construction policy.The seventh chapter is conclusion and prospect, which demonstrate the conclusion of the whole paper, suggestion and prospect of the research.
