Economic growth is driven by the development of enterprises. In the fierce market competition environment, enterprise experiences complex development process from a small and weak force to a large and strong one. Its management strategy, organization structure and evolutionary path show the highly diversity and complexity as well. Exploring the inherent law and evolution mechanism of enterprise in the complex environment is the common concern of academia and business recently. In the view of complex science, the dissertation analyzes the complexity of enterprise system evolution and research achievements based on complex adaptive system(CAS) theory and evolutionary economics, studies the evolution mechanism and path of enterprise system and finally researches on the modeling and simulation of enterprise system based on multi-agent modeling methods. The dissertation includes 4 parts.The first part covers chapter 1 and 2. It mainly introduces the theoretical basis, reviews the literature and put forward the research problem. Firstly, it studies the research background and urgent issues in the development and evolution of current enterprise, such as complex adaptation, interaction with environment, evolution mechanism Secondly, it presents two main theoretical basis - CAS theory and evolutionary economics. Then, it summarizes the research trends and achievements about enterprise evolution home and abroad, reviews the current research state and defines the research emphasis of enterprise evolution in this dissertation.The second part covers chapter 3. It mainly concerns the definition of basic concepts and problems involving the enterprise evolution research. Firstly, it analyzes the complex adaptive characteristics of enterprise system. By combining the resource concepts in CAS theory and resource-based theory, the concept and connotation of enterprise are redefined. Enterprise resource is the base of enterprise routine and rule. Secondly, innovative division of enterprise system structure has been made in the view of CAS. It focuses on constructing the conceptual modeling of enterprise system evolution and puts forward the enterprise evolution cycle process modeling in which the enterprise system emerges in the chaotic economic environment, experiences the adaptive learning, bifurcation/mutation, emergence and other evolutionary process and then reaches the steady state. Thirdly, it analyzes three core mechanism of enterprise system evolution. This part is the basis of successive research in the dissertation.The third part covers chapter 4, 5 and 6. It's the core part of the dissertation which studies the adaptive learning, bifurcation/mutation and emergence mechanism of enterprise system evolution. First, it defines the concept of adaptive learning of enterprise system evolution. And based on genetic algorithm, it builds adaptive learning process model of enterprise system, argues that the adaptive learning of enterprise system is a selection and discovery process of rules in enterprise development and evolution. After the theoretical analysis of adaptive learning capability landscape, the key factors of improving adaptive learning and implementing sustainable development are given. Secondly, it interprets the gradual bifurcation cascade sequence of enterprise system evolution, reveals the reason of enterprise system diversity and studies mutation condition during the evolution. The condition is considered to be dominated by internal and external control variable together. And for the first time, the entropy theory and primary factor analysis method are applied in determining the control variable. Finally, it makes a thorough analysis on the enterprise system'emergence, condition and mechanism, constructs the emergence level conceptual model and obtains three emergence levels of enterprise system evolution. By questionnaire and cluster analysis, it puts forwards and verifies three paths of enterprise system evolution: self-development, dynamic imitation and innovative emergence.The fourth part covers chapter 7 and 8. It focuses on the modeling and simulation of enterprise system evolution. Firstly, it discusses the theory and method for modeling and simulation of complex system and describes the idea and steps of modeling and simulation. Secondly, based on SWARM, the enterprise evolution simulation has been made to verify the research conclusions in the former parts. Different development paths for enterprise in different evolutionary stages and environment are present. Finally, the chapter 7 summarizes the overall dissertation and shows the follow-up research work prospects. Finally, the chapter 8 deals with the overall dissertation and the follow-up research work prospects.
