Economies of scale is one of the main study topics in industrial organization theory. Automobile industry is the heavyly supported one by Chinese government from 50th of 20 centry.Since its big output value,long industry chain,high industrial linkage, automobile industry is a complex reflection of a country's technical level and an important industry in many countries' national economy and as well as in China.And since it showes obviously characteristic of scale,both China and other countries take the economies of scale of automobile industry as an important study topic.Based on former reletive studies,and guided both by industrial organization theory and theory of economies of scale,this paper makes a multi-angle positive study on scale economy of Chinese automobile industry by many analytical methods,such as profit analysis method,survivor technique method,regression analysis method and DEA model.The study showes that most Chinese automobile enterprises are in diseconomies of scale for poor operation.And the study guesses that optimal scale of Chinese automobile enterprises now is between 150000~330000,inside the interval enterprises are supposed to get scale merit.Then,the paper makes a comparative study about the influence factors of scale between Chinese and foreign automobile enterprises,and thinks that reletively lower R&D,demand which was not be met and other reasons made Chinese automobile enterprises' smaller scale.At the end,the paper brings forward the study conclusion and gives out some policy suggestions from the point of technology innovation, government control,demand satisification and others for higher Chinese automobile enterprise' scale.
