Designing, modeling and simulating for remanufacturing system are key and leading technologies to implement green remanufacturing engineering. This thesis proceeds systemically with researches on design, modeling and simulating technologies for remanufacturing system based on Theory of Constrains (TOC). It contains the essential theoretical and practical meanings in the field of solving out the issues lack of design assembly methodology and remanufacturing plan and control methodology to identify and eliminate constraints existed.This thesis is of eight chapters, which is taken the remanufacturing system as the research objective and focused on the constraints existed in the system.Chapter1, Introduction, is represented the origin of the topic of this thesis including the research objective and its significance on the basis of systemically studying on present literatures about Theory of Constrains and its appliance.Chapter2 is basic theory and methodology of remanufacturing system. Definition of remanufacturing and remanufacturing system was given and Theory of Constrains was illuminated being as basic theory of remanufacturing plan and control. Three methodologies used in this thesis were given, i.e., Design for Disassembly (DFD) method, Systematic layout Planning (SLP) for remanufacturing system and Entity Flow Graph (EFG) for modeling and simulating of remanufacturing system.Chapter3 is about modeling and simulating technologies of remanufacturing system based on Drum-Buffer-Rope scheduling. Technological support and experimental analysis were offered, i.e., on the basis of the description of DBR remanufacturing system, three specific aims of this thesis were identified as well as proposing the simulation goals. Mainly simulation modeling of remanufacturing processes based on DBR was shown and modeling logic of three elements was proposed. Moreover evaluation indexes and its evaluation standards were also offered for the relevant simulation goals.Chapter4 is methodology research to identify and eliminate constraints existed for remanufacturing system. Eliminating kinds of constraints in the system was illuminated as the main view point of this thesis. Methodologies were given to identify and eliminate policy constraints and resource constraints and had been founded the methodology basis for DBR scheduling method used in Chapter5,Chapter6 and Chapter7.Chapter5 is for buffer control mechanism of remanufacturing system based on DBR. According to the types of buffer, the inventory control mechanism and time control mechanism about remanufacturing system respectively were classified and researched. Effect evaluation methods for two mechanisms were given, which offered the methodology basis for simulation experiment for effect evaluation of buffer control mechanism in chapter6.Chapter6 is regarding simulating technology of buffer control mechanism for remanufacturing system based on DBR. It brought the simulating technology and its contents as following 6 aspects: simulating target and simulating experiment design, modeling and stimulating for inventory control mechanism, modeling and stimulating for time control mechanism, analysis on simulating input data, verification and confirmation for simulation model, analysis on the simulating effect.Chapter7 is case study for design, modeling and simulating technologies for remanufacturing system. Firstly three methodologies were combined with DFD, SLP and EFG to design the end-of-life home appliance remanufacturing system. Then the buffer control mechanisms and their models offered in Chapter 5 and Chapter 6 were applied to the case by case study of end-of-life engine remanufacturing system. Simulation experiments showed that the validity of time and buffer mechanisms was verified on the one aspect. On the other aspect the further comparison studies between time and buffer mechanisms and their effects by the qualitative and quantitative analysis.Chapter8 is given as the conclusions and research outlook. Achievements, main creation points and some issues to be followed later were summarized in this thesis.The innovations of this research includes:(1) Combination methods of DFD-oriented product design, systematic layout planning method SLP and computer simulation were applied in the design of end-of-life household appliances remanufacturing system and design case analysis of KY Company was carried out. The results of the case showed that DFD-oriented product design method provided innovative ideas about flow design of remanufacturing system and solved the problem in a novel way that remanufacturing flow design lacks efficient method. Combination of systematic layout planning method SLP and computer simulation method offered a way in systematic status parameters observation, extraction, design plan effectiveness test and solved the problem that design plan comparison and selection lack effective experiment method.(2) With DBR method and simulation tool ARENA, simulation model development of end-of-life household appliances remanufacturing system and how to apply the model in recognizing and removing resource constraints in remanufacturing system were elaborated, thus the problems of low resource utilization and returns are solved from a new way.(3) In consideration of main random factors influencing stability of remanufacturing system that includes routing and processing time uncertainties, machine failures rate and maintenance rate, time buffer model and inventory buffer model based on DBR were developed which provide two methods to solve uncertainty problems in remanufacturing. (4) Inventory control mechanism and time control mechanism for remanufacturing system based DBR were studied in depth which lay the foundation for buffer effects experiment and evaluation. Further systematic research on remanufacturing system buffer control mechanism simulation technology based on DBR was put forward and it consists of six aspects including simulation objectives and design, inventory control mechanism simulation modeling, time control mechanism simulation modeling, simulation input data analysis, simulation model test and identification, simulation results analysis.In consideration of case study of end-of-life household appliances and engine remanufacturing and by simulation experiments, qualitative and quantitative comparative analysis on two control mechanism effects of time buffer and inventory buffer were carried out. The suggestions about how to choose buffer type in remanufacturing plan and control were proposed and the principle is that selection should be performed after comparing both implementation effects on buffer effects, systematic management aims and easy controllability of production plan based on mastering the consistency of both buffer control principleThis paper provides a reasonable research method and technical support system for solving resource constraints and uncertainty problems existing in remanufacturing system. Furthermore scientific theory and method basis in terms of further study on remanufacturing production control and experimental analysis reference and an important empirical reference in order to promote remanufacturing engineering are put forward.
