The recent decade, Knowledge Management has become the source of the core competence of the corporation, The research on it has become a hot frontier research field, which attracts general concern from academia and businesses. More and more domestic and overseas enterprises start to carry out Knowledge Management, and gradually increase the investment in Knowledge Management System and relevant information communication technology. At home , though Knowledge Management enter in our country not long ago, the practice of it has been from start up period to a rapid developmental period.For a enterprise, the aim of carrying out Knowledge Management is to improve its organizational performance, in order to create competitive strength and continued competitive strength to pursue long term development of the organization by using the knowledge of the enterprise. Because of many reasons, not a few businesses have put Knowledge Management into effect but they haven't achieve expected effects. How is the relationship between business'knowledge management activities and organizational performance? Why is there no improvement in organizational performance by using knowledge management? How does the organizational culture have effects on the knowledge management activities and then influence the organizational performance? Some scholars have probed into these problems, most of them focus on logical deduction, a few of them adopt empirical research in which organizational culture, knowledge management activities and organizational performance can not be integrated dynamiclly. The correct cognition and understanding on these problems are not only related to the success or failure of the enterprise's knowledge management practice, but also the important theoretical problems need to test.Direct at the problems above mentioned, this article adopts the research line from organizational culture to knowledge management and last to organizational performance. Based on the classification of organizational culture by Goffee and Jones'double s cube pattern, the thesis has studied on the four influence machanism to organizational performance caused by organizational culture, and specifically researched on the influence on organizational performance made by knowledge management activities. Through the data of the questionnaire survey of the businesses in the central and eastern China,by using Statistical Analysis Software the thesis implemented statistical analysis and test on the theoretical model of the paper and it proved the influence on organizational performance made by knowledge management under different organizational culture types.Three innoations of the thesis:(1)The thesis used Goffee and Jones'double s cube pattern to classify organizational cultures,and put forward a theory research model of "organizational culture~organizational performance~knowledge management "。Most previous researchers adopted Quinn and Cameron's organizational culture classification from the perspective of competitive value framwork or other standards, yet this study used the four types of cultures: Network Culture ,Mutual Culture ,Spallation Culture and Mercenary Culture which are from Goffee and Jones'double s cube pattern, and put forward a theory research model of "organizational culture~organizational performance~knowledge management " , which make the study on knowledge management more comprehensive and enrich the contents of the research on knowledge management.(2) This thesis has studied on the effects on knowledge management activities caused by various organizational cultures. The empirical research finds that network culture and mutual culture have positive effect on knowledge creation, knowledge organization, knowledge conversion and knowledge application; spallation culture and mercenary culture have negative effect on knowledge creation, knowledge organization, knowledge conversion and knowledge application.While knowledge management is carrying out, organizational culture is the key factor to have effect on the activities of knowledge management. The previous studies paid close attention to values, belife, work mechanism and cultural open to research organization culture to implement knowledge management, no specific research of different types of organizational culture of organization and implementation of specific knowledge management, the research contents of further enriched in this field of research.(3) Based on organizational culture, the thesis has studied on the influence on organizational performance caused by knowledge management. The empirical research finds that under the condition of network culture and mutual culture, knowledge management has positive effect on organizational performance; under the condition of spallation culture and mercenary culture, knowledge management has negative effect on organizational performance. In the past of knowledge management and organizational performance in the study, researchers are concerned a process of organizational performance. The paper, from organizational culture's perspective, has specifically researched the influence on organizational performance caused by knowledge management activities on the condition of various types of organizational culture. This is quit new that few research is from this perspective.Besides the aboves, the thesis has done a comparative analysis on the cognition and application of knowledge management between central China and Eastern China. Because of the difference of geographical position and developmental level, many diversities exsit between central China and Eastern China. These empirical research and comparative analysis contribute to learn and master the differences of the cogniton and application of knowledge management in various areas in our country and they have the instructive significance to business'knowledge management practice.
