In the two parts of the following dissertation, the research work on the mechanical propertiesof CFRP material (Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer) and the overall constrained concrete in theaxial compression conditions were carried out. With respect to the necessities of mechanical properties on the CFRP material and overallconstrained concrete in the axial compression condition, the experimental research and theoreticalanalysis about the composite from them had been carried out. Then, through the summation ofexperimental results, the empirical expressions for CFRP strength in the design computation werepresented with the regression method. With a shear-column model, the expression for stress-straincurve was suggested under the uniaxial tension condition. In the same way, the stress-strainrelationships between the concrete column and prism with a variety of constrain conditions werealso presented. Finally, according to these stress-strain relationships from the experimental resultsand data specified in the “Code for design of concrete structures(GB50010-2002)”, the concepts ofenergy density and energy interpretation were suggested for CFRP constrained concrete column inan axial compression condition. The experimental results were also compared with the data in the“Code for the design of concrete structures (GB50010-2002)”. The results show that the energydensity of destruction of the CFRP confined concrete compared with the non-confined concretehave improved significantly.
