Recent years, either the scale or the quantity of RCC dam project, is increasing rapidly.Though the RCC dam with characteristics of safety, reliable quality, fast construction and low resources consumption, the construction process is a very complex system engineering. With high construction intensity, tight schedule, complex construction technology and strict control requirements of construction process, it brings a big challenge to the management and control of the construction process of the RCC dam.Construction informationas the only medium can reflect RCC dam construction process characteristics and vary with time. Whether construction information can be fully rational usedirectly determines the success or failure of the RCC dam construction. This article aims at the theory and application of the construction information model(CIM) for RCC dam, with tightly coupling the characteristics of construction information and scientific issues during the construction management. This research has deeply studied the theory and method of CIM from different aspects, including RCC dam construction information integration, data mining, and feedback control. The following research findings have been gained.( 1) With overall considering the optimal target for RCC dam construction from the perspectives of economic, social and environmental benefits, the CIM for RCC dam was concisely presented.Construction information can reflect and reveal essential features, construction state and order of the RCC dam construction process, which can describe the interlinkages and interaction between sub-parts or sub activities. Currently insufficient cognition of nature and function of the RCC dam construction information lead to the lack of multi-objective construction optimization control researches from the perspective of construction information. Aiming at above problems, this research put forward the CIM concisely based on the system theory, cybernetics and information theory. Through deeply analyzing the model theory, this research established the mathematical model, summarized the constraint factors of CIM, and also analyzed the formation mechanism of the factors.The CIM for RCC dam proposed by this research filled the gaps in RCC dam construction information theory system, and can provide new theoretical basis for overall cognition and deeply study of the RCC dam construction information.(2)For the problem of lacking application research of the RCC dam construction information integration theory, the theory and methods to seamlessly integrate multi-source construction information of RCC dam were proposed. The construction information integration of compaction process of a dam in deep, narrow valley is fully studied for illustration.Presently the main way for information integration is from field survey to computer storage based on site manual collection, which unable to adapt to the characteristics of RCC dam construction information with multi-dimension, multi-scale, high dynamic and strong uncertainty. Besides, the present research lack analysis and theoretical basis of the multi-source of RCC dam construction information.In order to solving above problems, through giving full consideration to the characteristics of construction process and external environment, this research deeply analyzed the polyphyly of construction information and proposed the seamless integration theory of multi-source construction information for RCC dam. This research also presented the method of seamless integration theory of multi-source construction information based on the construction information collection-transmission-stored procedure chronologically. The monitoring of dam material compaction process in deep, narrow valley can be easily influenced by the poor communication, leading to the information collection interruption and information integration behind time. Thus the seamless integration method of construction information for RCC dam in such kind of valley was proposed, which has been applied in actual construction process. Application results showed that a timely, continuous and complete integration of RCC dam construction information in the time-dimension, spatial-dimension and attribute-dimension has been achieved by adopting this method and had a good effect.The proposed theory and method can make up thedeficiency of currently study of RCC dam multi-source construction information integration theory and application. Thus this research can provide theoretical basis and effective ways for deeply recognition of the polyphyly of construction information, efficient integration and management the information.(3)Aiming at the deficiency that the absence of data mining analysis for RCC dam construction information, the deeply data mining theory and method of the RCC dam construction information was proposed, and the compaction quality prediction and analysis research of RCC was carried out as deeply illustration.Data query and data statistics as the mainly traditional method of RCC dam construction information analysis cannot adapt themagnanimity characteristic of RCC dam construction information, thus is not conducive to mine and find the hidden knowledge and message of great value behind the massive construction information. The traditional method currently has been unable to meet the needs of data mining analysis. In addition, the theory and application research of RCC dam construction information mining analysis is insufficient in existing research. To solve these problems, based on analyzing and summarizing the necessity and feasibility, around the idea of multi-dimensional, multi-scale, multi-angle, this research proposed the deeply mining theory and method of RCC dam construction information with considering the typical characteristics of RCC dam construction information. This research also elaborated the principal methods and implementation process of specific deeply mining analysis. For RCC compaction quality influenced by many complexparameters, the compaction quality forecasting and analysis was studied intensively. Not only the highly accurate prediction model of concrete compaction degree and amount of change of VC value were established, the coupling analysis of these two model was also carried out by combing the existing research results. The research can provide decision support for more effective control of RCC compaction quality.The theory and methods proposed above can make up the deficiency of currently deeply mining analysis of RCC dam construction information, provide a theoreticalbasis for effective implementation of the multi-dimensional, multi-scale, multi-angle data mining, and utmostacquisition of the valuable information hidden in the construction information. This research can provide a new think and study direction.( 4) In view of lack of recognition of RCC dam construction information feedback control mechanism and effectiveways to implement feedback control in current researches, the theory and methods of RCC dam construction information dynamic feedback control were proposed, and further analysis of improved real-time compaction quality monitoring technology and application was carried out as example.Currently the insufficient cognition of RCC dam construction information feedback control mechanism caused that the research of the theory, function of the construction information feedback control and its function during RCC dam construction process was insufficient. Additionally, the traditional feedback control methods like on-site supervision, manual analysis of construction state and making construction schemes, can have low efficiency and poor effect,which can easily cause the control failure of construction process, and result in deficient quality, schedule lag and resources waste. Aiming at above issues, this research proposed and deeply analyzed the dynamic feedback control mechanism of RCC dam construction information based on summarizing the theory and main functions of feedback control. The principal methods for effective implementing construction information dynamic feedback control were proposed. In the existing real-time monitoring methods of compaction quality, though the roller operators can receive feedback control information for their operations timely, this process is vulnerable to some external factors(such as communication network interruption, power failure), thus the efficiency of feedback control is reduced. Based on previous research, the research of improved real-time compaction quality monitoring method and application was carried out according to above proposed construction information dynamic feedback control theory and methods. The application results showed that the proposed method could be used as the complement of existing real-time compaction quality monitoring method. The proposed method could effectively improve the feedback control efficiency during the monitoring process and stimulate the machinery operator’s initiative, thus the compaction quality can be controlled more effective.The proposed mechanism and method can effectively improve the cognition level for the RCC dam construction information feedback control, effectively strengthen the awareness of construction information dynamic feedback control, and can provide ways for effectively implementation of feedback control during the RCC dam construction process.(5)The construction information real-time monitoring and integration system for RCC dam has been developed for application research of the proposed theory and methods, and the system has been successfully used in a high RCC dam construction project in China.The high RCC dam project with large-scale, complex construction technology and high control demands is located in southwest China. In view of the characteristics of this project and the external environment, this research developed a construction information real-time monitoring and integration system applicable to this project based on the proposed CIM for RCC theory and method. This system can realize seamless integration, deeply mining analysis and dynamic feedback control of the principal construction information, which can improve the management efficiency and level during the project construction process.Achievements through engineering application have validated the feasibility of the above theories and methods. The research aiming at the theory and method of CIM for RCC dam, not only filled the gaps in the theoretical study of construction information for RCC dam, but also improved the recognition of the nature and efficacy of construction information, and provided effective ways for construction information integration, mining analysis and feedback control.The proposed CIM for RCC dam is universal and expandable, this research can provide a reference for the construction information study and application of other types of water conservancy and hydropower project.
