Research On The Integration Of Urban Green Space Dominated By City Mega-Events

In recent years, increasing number of city events occurred in China has facilitated the construction. of urban green space. These city events have not only promoted the development of the city but also raised the city’s profile. With China entering the rapid process of urbanization, the effects of Mega-Events to the construction of urban green space have enlarged from the transformation of a single patch of green land to the design and integration of green space which has an influence on the urban region. From the perspective of the city,the process of preparing, site selection and programming of Mega-Events have a great impact on the regional development of urban green space. The most important point of the dissertation is that how to find out the final strategic plan after analyzing and integrating various elements in the construction of urban green space during the process of urban events’ development.The first part of the dissertation is to analyze the meaning of the Mega-Events and green space, then further discuss the classification of the mega events, systemizing the researches and theories about mega events and green space at home and abroad to discuss about the sphere of influence on mega events. Through discussing and concluding the history of green space that have been affectedby Mega-Events, we could speculate its dynamic tendency and figure out the affected limitation of descending levels.After that, the dissertation analyzes the concept of green space integration which is directed by Mega-Events. To be specific, we will first discuss the concept of integration, then the sphere of integration of Mega-Events and the advantage of Mega-Events’integration. In terms of the function of the Mega-Events’integration in the process of designing the green space, it will be discussed from macro, meso, and micro perspectives. Mega-Events have a great influence on all the three layers-connecting from the view of macroscopic, directing from the view of the middle, and controlling from the view of microcosmic, besides they support the point of the dissertation based on different cases. We can also find out the classic theory from the angle of green space integration.As the factors of site selection in mega events are extremely complicated, the dissertation is mainly based on the factors relating to green space. Specifically, reviewing and combing the events which took place and selected sitesin different regions of the city, at the same time, we will analyze it from two different angles-the public demand in different regions and the environmental demand in landscape ecology. In addition, the reasons why selecting the site and the principles of site selection will also be stated in the dissertation.In the last part of the dissertation, we will explore the integrated strategy of urban green space directed by Mega-Events from three perspectives. The first perspective is the programming strategy of regional green network based on the place where Mega-Events occur. In the process of integration, the selected site is seated at the same place with other areas, mutually connecting and integrating the green network. The second perspective is based on the programming strategy in which mega events play significant role in a part of the city. This event can command and integrate the green space of this place even the areas around it, thus forming a group. The third perspective is based on the complicated land planning strategy. The interior regions require reasonable allocation plan based on the current situation and the design needs to be integrated in a favorable way, forming an event regional green space system. When integrating, the designers should make full use of the green space function directed by the events and the green space functions which have different natural features. The two green space functions have to be integrated reasonably and appropriatelyespecially carefully adjusting the degree of integration. No matter creating or updating, the designers should form a new green space which is appropriate to the event and originated from the site.In this dissertation, mega events serve as an assistor to integrate the green space. Through the researches and studies on the integration of green space in the process of urban development, and the theories on urban catalysts, landscape ecology, and landscape urbanism, the author hopes that this dissertation could broach the subject relating to construction of green space triggered by Chinese events.
