| Nowadays, with the rapid development of economy and society, China also faces a series of dilemmas, such as ecological environment deterioration, huge resource consumption, decreasing farm land and so on. In this context, to explore the strategies of ecological and circular cities, and develop ecological communities based on the foundation of urban agriculture, integrating food production, resident’s daily life and ecological environment as a whole, can provide a better way for the ecological, harmonious and sustainable development of our cities. This research takes urban agriculture, permaculture and urban metabolism as the theoretical platform, using the method of research-oriented design, material metabolism analysis and virtual reality through multidisciplinary collaboration, to study necessity and possibility of establishing agro-integrated community that integrating agriculture as the key element into urban human settlements. The research utilizing architectural, planning and landscape design technique, refind the unused spaces in communities and strengthen their production function. Then the research put forward theoretical model of agro-integrated community in urban area, which is integrated with urban ecological, economic and social systems, and clarifies its concept and connotation, structural levels, system characteristics as well as different categories. On the basis of theoretical research, the research put forward the space mode of agro-integrated community that adapted to the current urban development, the circulation technology mode that effectively supporting resources circulation metabolism, as well as the construction, operation and participation mode that fiting the technical regeneration and the space of the community. Then, according to current situation, the research gives practical strategies and recommendations from the view of city planning, land use, food and environment hygiene and property management, etc. Finally, the research utilizes the method of research-oriented design to create a typical mode of small scale agro-integrated community, combining the theoretical outcoming with practice project from planning, landscape, architectural design and ecological infrastructure level. The experimental community reduce the input of material as well as the output of waste, and at the same time increase the circulation of the material within the community, then utilize the method of material metabolism analysis to verify the theoretical results.Through multidisciplinary collaboration, this research intend to explore an innovative ecological community mode that can solve urban economy, social and environmental problems in a integrated way, so as to make a useful complement to the theoretical research of urban human settlement and also provide practical guidance for the current ecological community construction in China. |
