The forest fire is one of the most destructive and devastating natural disasters in the world, which is extremely difficult to rescue. Based on the characteristics of China’s forests, China’s forest areas should vigorously develop the light all-terrain forest fire patrolling vehicles with good maneuverability and off-road performance. The vehicle equipped with fire-fighting equipment could play a significant role in patrolling forest area, detecting fire timely and early fighting after the fire. However, in the event of forest fires, due to the lack of reference, patrolling vehicles are often not able to quickly determine the exact location of the fire which affects the external transmission of the message, delaying the extinguishing, and resulting in losses.The all-terrain forest fire patrolling vehicle in the special working environment requires the function of being tracked. This function allows the Forestry Bureau headquarters to master patrolling routes, to quickly determine the location of the vehicle, which has a great significance for the timely organization to extinguish forest fires, the decision-making of commanding and dispatching, and the emergency assistance to the fire patrol. Forest fire patrolling vehicles equipped with tracing positioning system, being applied to the actual conditions of China’s forest areas, have a wider application prospects and practical significance.This paper first analyzes the design functional requirements of the all-terrain forest fire patrolling vehicle tracing positioning system. And on analyses of the common means of forest fire prevention communication based on the requirements, including ZigBee and wireless sensor networks, short-wave communications and GPRS communication, this paper determines the communication means of the present system, on the basis of which, determines the overall structure design of the hardware and software of all terrain forest fire patrolling vehicle tracing positioning system, and provides the architecture design of the system.The all-terrain forest fire patrolling vehicle tracing positioning system consists of two parts, vehicle terminal system and information terminal server. The vehicle terminal part of tracing positioning system had been completely studied and designed in this paper. For the AVR embedded processor, we have given the hardware structure design and software process of vehicle nodes, including development boards, GPS module,GPRS module, sensors and other hardware and the corresponding driver, then have given the implementation of tracing nodes in the Android system for assisting the whole system to debug and tune, making use of the convenient development environment provided by the Android Intelligent mobile phone.The rapid development of a variety of computer languages has provided favorable conditions for the research. In this paper, the function and architecture of all-terrain forest fire patrolling vehicle tracing information system have been analyzed and designed in detail. First, we have compared the advantages and disadvantages of C/S framework and B/S framework to determine the idea for the construction of the system based on B/S mode; then according to the system scale and user characteristics etc, we have determined to use "Apache+PHP+MySQL" as the software architecture of the all terrain forest fire patrolling vehicle tracing information system server; we have choosed Google map as a map service provider, using Ajax synchronous loading map mode, to shorten the loading time; finally, the realization of various function of the server system is analyzed in detail, and make the particular case of abnormal data analysis system and alarm.This paper has also tested and debugged the all-terrain forest fire patrolling vehicle tracing system, built a test environment on the vehicle terminal system and server system. The vehicle terminal is respectively for the embedded system environment and for the installation of LAMP environment, and managed the relevant system configuration. Has been in the urban woodland and in Mount Maoer in Shangzhi track positioning test.The test result of all-terrain forest fire patrol vehicle protection tracing information systems shows that, relatively, emergency operation of mountain patrol can be completed well by vehicle positioning system based on GPS and GPRS technology.
