Purpose:The present study provided a comprehensive review from the standpoint of analyzing the academic theroy and treatment strategy of this classic formula Wenjing decoction from Zhang Zhongjing and incorporating the clinical experiences to treat Perimenopausal Syndrome from Traditional Chinese Medicine doctors in the past30years. The purpose is to provide supportive documentations and references for clinical standardization and reasonable application of Wenjing decoction.Methods:Thirteen literatures related to Wenjing decoction which are published in last30years (1980-2012) are collected from CNKI, Wanfang datebase and VIP Journals of Chinese Scienc.Keywords retrieval based on Wenjing decoction, menopause and PMS in the database.The database of Excel was established using the categories of name of prescription, symptom, disease indication and clinical efficiency.The database further refined with statistical analysis and computerational techniques into2aspects.-disease indication and clinical efficiency, which in order to clarify and further explore the general rules and commonality in the clinical use of Wenjing decoceion.Results:From the review of related reports on Wenjing decoction,the amount of related reports is37,29of which has Case Discussion involving395cases. There are8cases refer to the clinical experience from the honorary experts of Chinese Medience. Symptoms and signs in menopause women according to the occurrent rate were as follows in turn:menstrual disorder(299cases,76%), negative emotion(202cases,51%), lower abdomen psychroalgia(183cases,46%), weakness and mental tiredness(179cases,45%), fever and sweating(177cases,45%), dry mouth (162cases,41%), vertigo(143cases,36%), facial pallor or pale complexion(142cases,36%), chilliness and cold-limbs (119cases,30%), soreness-tired of waist and knee(107cases,27%), pruritus and dry skin(81cases,21%), burning sensation of five centres(79cases,20%), etc. From these collected literature for reviews,175cases have tongue diagnosis records. The pictures of the tongues are:dullness tongue(144cases), pale tongue(13cases), dark tongue(12cases), pink tongue(3cases). The coating of tongue is refered131times altogether,.and most of them are thin white tongue coating which compose almost92%of the total. Most of the tongue fur are think,others are smooth and exfoliative tongue fur. Most of the color of tongue coating is white. There are only7cases with yellow tongue coating. There are175case with pulse records, most of them are comprehensive pulse(deep and inability pulse:13lcases, thready and unsmooth pulse:19cases). The total effective ratet of clinical efficiency of Wenjing decoction:the lowest is72%and the highest is100%. There are25cases whose total effective rate are above90%.Conclusion:The comprehensive analysis shows that Wenjing decoction is effective to the deficiency of spleen and stomach、debility of Chong Ren meridians and stagnation of blood stasis type of PMS.
