Objective:Vertebral artery type of cervical spondylosis (CSA) is a common type of CS, which is common and frequently-occurring disease in the elderly, with high recurrence rate. The quality of life of patients is affected seriously, which impose great strain on both the patient himself and his family, even also the society. With the rapidly increase of aging population in our country and as the unhealthy life style spread widely, such as look down at iphone and ipad for long time, CSA will hurt more and more aged patients. Now, all of the clinical researches about CSA focus mainly on middle-aged patients, whose average age is far under 60, lack of research mainly about senile CSA. Our research aim to quantitative evaluate the efficacy and safety of the combination therapy for senile CSA by "chengshi" manipulation and "fuyang" moxibustion therapy, by objective indicators. Methods:We randomly divided 60 elderly eligible subjects into treatment group and control group (each n=30). Treatment group was treated with both "cheng shi" manipulation and "fuyang" moxibust ion therapy, and the other with "cheng shi" manipulation only. Both of them were given instructions about details of life. Vertigo symptom and function score was taken at 3 points(prior treatment, immediately after a treatment,7 days after treatment), so was the TCD scan about the blood flow velocities in both sides of vertebral artery and in the basilar artery. All of the research data was put into computer to establish database, and data analysis and describe by SPSS19.0.Results:(1)Both combination therapy by "cheng shi" manipulation and "fu yang" moxibustion therapy and single therapy by "cheng shi" manipulation could immediately improve patients’symptoms such as dizziness、neck and shoulder pain even after single used, and it could help for more than 7 days. But in the control group, the effect change between immediate after treatment and 7 days after treatment was no significant differences, while in the treatment group, it showed that it became much more better after 7 days. The immediate-effect compared between two treatments was no significant differences, while after 7 days-effect compared showed that the combined one was better than the single one.(2)Both combination therapy by "cheng shi" manipulation and "fu yang" moxibustion therapy and single therapy by "cheng shi" manipulation could immediately improve patients’speed of bilateral vertebral artery and basilar artery blood flow, with no significant differences in the speed of bilateral vertebral artery blood flow compare between two group, and significant differences in the speed of basilar artery blood flow compare, which showed that the combined one was better.(3)The cure rate of the combination therapy was obviously higher than that of the single one, while the compares in excellent, effective, noneffective rate and total cure rate were no significant differences. Conclusion:Combination therapy by "cheng shi" manipulation and "fu yang" moxibustion therapy is a new combined therapy for senile CSA, which has many advantages other therapy can not analogy with, such as feel its effects immediately、 long effect、easy to operate、save time and strengths safe and clean、easily popularized widely. It can provide high quality evidence-based medical evidence for making standardized TCM treatment for senile CSA.
