Worldliness problem in public realm is highlighted by German-American thinker Hannah Arendt, in the process of rethinking and resolving the crisis of modern public realm, and her thoughts of rebuilding the public realm. Aristotle’s political thoughts, ancient Greek city-state political culture, Karl Jaspers’existentialism and worldliness thoughts in phenomenology, provide important theoretical resources in Arendt’s worldliness theory of public realm. The concept of worldliness refers to the essential way of people live in the world. According to the standard of worldliness, Arendt distinguished three key concepts in her theory of rebuilding public realm: labor, work and action. Worldliness has important significance in the reconstruction of public realm. Political nature, publicity, plurality, appearance, reality, eternity and other important features of worldliness have ontological connotation. Through the concept of action, Arendt claimed that people should live a political worldliness way, to ensure the value and significance of life, and to seek a stable home of human spirit.Arendt’s thoughts of worldliness in public realm has great significance today, in theory, which provides us a unique perspective in criticizing the tradition of western political philosophy and an important horizon for rethinking public realm issues in ontology. Meanwhile, in reality, it provides us some enlightenment in rethinking and criticizing the contemporary western political crisis, and politics development in China. But, Arendt’s political pursuit and political position in her thoughts of public realm worldliness, is idealistic, with an obvious utopia and some kind of restoring ancient ways tendency.
