A Study Of The Formation Of Acient Ross

The book Motherland History from Ancient Times upon to Now that is called a Russian encyclopaedie defines“the ancient Ross nation as being the basis of Russian, Ukraine and Belorussian nations and being formed on the basis of the union of eastern Slavic clans during the period of the ancient Ross state”.The writer believes that in terms of the type of the ancient Ross nation formed it should be a nation of state, i.e. because of the formation of the ancient Ross state, the people in its jurisdiction limits became a united nation. In 882 AD, Oleg chose Kiev as his capital, founded an ancient Ross state and called the people in his jurisdiction Russ. Since then, lot of eastern Slavic clans and non-Slavic clans under the rule of the ancient Ross state on the Eastern European Plain developed towards the goal of a united nation.For the ancient nations’characteristics, some influential writers such as Marx and Engels gave a detailed description. As for me, I have approached the formation of the ancient Ross nation according to the influential writers’description. What I have explored can be divided into four aspects as follows:First, due to the influence from foreign facters, the eastern Slavic clans and non-Slavic clans that lived on the Eastern European Plain achieved a racial integration to different degrees from the fifth to the ninth century AD, forming what we know as Pollion, Delevlion, Delegovch, Lagimich, Viyadyich, Krivch, Slovne, Dulebu (Volun and Buge), White Khoroat, Seivilion, Ulrich and Divir, etc. This verified what a famous Chinese historian Bai Shou-yi said is three historical processes of racial unification, i.e. the processes of single nation unification, of multi-nation unification in a region and of nationwide racial unification. At the same time, because of the expansion of the eastern Slavic clans, there existed lateral cultural ties between all the clans. These racial groups were the main elements of forming the ancient Ross nation.Second,as the waterway trade of the East Europe became active day after day, the eastern Slavic clans and non-Slavic clans on the Eastern European Plain were continuously involved in it and even gave their support to it to some degree. The development of the waterway trade broke up the closed state of the regions of the East Europe, expedited the distribution of commercialization of the East Europe, stimulated objectively the exchange between the clans and increased the exchanging forms. In view of this, I think that the clans on the Eastern European Plain had a common economic life to a certain degree. At the same time, I think that the founding of the ancient Ross state was the objective result of waterway trade developmenbt of the East Europe and its aim lay in a smooth completion of trade activities.Third, the foundation of the ancient Ross state was a must for the formation of the ancient Ross nation. This was decided by the characteritics of state nations. The foundation of the Ross state gave the ancient Ross nation a space for development. The ruling process of the ancient Ross state, in fact, was the process of gradual unification of the ancient Ross people’s thinking and feelings.Fourth, the ancient Ross people in the process of long-period production, living and fighting a battle gradually achieved a cultural integration. We must realize that this process was very long and complicated and interrupted by feudal separationist rule and Mongolian Tatar’s invasion. But it is definite that the ancient Ross nation was a nation in taking shape.
