Under the premise that much progress of nationalization of China’s film aesthetics hasbeen made, the author believed that in addition to Chinese classical aesthetic concepts andnotions, researchers of Chinese film aesthetics should put forward some new aestheticconcepts and notions to adapt to times development and to gradually enrich and improveChinese film aesthetic system. After sorting out and studying the Jiangnan film images in acentury of Chinese films, the writer gave an aesthetic proposition of “imaging Jiangnan”. Bymeans of documentary study, textual analysis, comparison and induction in paper writing,concepts and connotations of Jiangnan culture, Jiangnan image and imageing Jiangnan aredefined. Furthermore, followed by space aesthetic combing and analysis of Jiangnan imagesin Chinese films since1920s, the author made sure of the existence of “imaging Jiangnan” asa notion of film space aesthetics and hoped it could provide a helpful theoretical reference forChinese national film practice and make our national film aesthetics regain world’s attention.
