New Realistic Novel Literary Value

In this thesis, we use the “literary value of new realistic novels” asthe topic, make the literary value as an entry point, and do the research basedon the literary value of new realistic novels. We propose to re-card the literaryvalue which the literary phenomenon-new realist novels itself has, based on theprevious case studies. Trying to study and revalue new realistic novels, in orderto deepen the understanding of new realistic novels.The essay learns from Meyer Howard Abrams literary “four elements” theory,on this basis, trying to elaborate five aspects of the literary value of newrealistic novels, they are: art constitution value, individual performance value,aesthetic feelings value, spiritual connotation value(including the“realism”), and literary history value, mainly with the four representativewriters of new realistic novels-Chi Li, Fang Fang, Liu Heng, Liu Zhenyun andtheir representative works, to make a more objective, comprehensive andintegrated analysis and interpretation of the literary value of new realisticnovels.In art constitution value, we mainly from the story of “people” and choiceof subject matter, language expression, rendering of the characters, and thecreative method which “miscellaneously take all kinds of methods into one”,these four aspects to explore the art constitution value of new realist novels.In individual performance value, new realist novels are not only full ofa wealth of imprinting which the writers’ experienced the era of history andtheir own issues, but we also reveal the performance results of the literaturefrom writers’ perspective which literature research community paid lessattention to in the past, and it is more conducive to our comprehensiveunderstanding of new realistic novels.In aesthetic feelings value, new realistic novels not only give the readersrich and intuitive feelings on vision, hearing, smell, taste, touch and othersensory feeling, and often still give readers a sad or a happy or a mixed feelingin the depths of the soul.In spiritual connotation value, new realist novels not only carry a widerange of content and thought beneath their ordinary and trivial surface suchas era, history, culture and so on, but also have made the interpretation ofthe life and exploration of philosophizing which contain the survival, life,and even the development of the most commonly exists “people” in the world.And these aspects are often ignored by the research in the past because of theway of “latent” and implicit within the new realist novels. For the interpretation of the “realism”, new realist novels show an objectivematerialism, based on the reality of the ordinary people’s daily life, realistic,lifelike, infinite approaching a normal life’s “realism”. And we believe thatthe “realism” of new realist novels has a unique feature of “the essenceassociate with the phenomenon”.In literary history value, we find that the presentation of new realistnovels is also diverse. Firstly, we examine the name of new realist novels fromthe perspective of “real view”, despite its name is not fully reveal itsinherent “reality”, but it provides us with a revelation. Secondly,positioning in the property, we think the nature of new realist novels shouldbe characterized as a unique literary phenomenon, if you have it the coronationas a “literary genre”, it will make new realist novels add up with many externalman-made “dress up” marks, which also lost its own true nature. Thirdly, wefurther define new realist novels on behalf of writers and representatives ofthe texts, can provide readers a direct access to the core of their best inherentessence. Fourthly, explore and think about the theoretical generalization andartistic features of new realist novels, we can have a comprehensive examineefrom the “theory” to the “practice” from the perspective of literary history,thinking and exploring the problems of the artistic features of the “restore”and “zero”.
