The paper is centered around research on the artistic career of Zhu Naizheng, the representative figure of the third generation Chinese oil-painters. As a doctoral student dealing with artistic practice, the author will put emphasis on the painter’s life experience as well as the relationship between time factors and ontological language of oil painting, with following issues involved:different stages and development of Zhu Naizheng’s sketches, life oil-paintings and oil-painting character creation as well as the relationship between his works and his personal experience. Besides, the paper has also revealed the facts that the evolution of contemporary Chinese art is accompanied by the confrontation, collision and integration between Chinese and western artistic culture, and the fusion of Chinese and western elements embodies the inherent complex demand of Chinese culture for change. Having mastered oil-painting techniques, Zhu Naizheng is skillful in both Chinese and western themes, with excellent achievements in calligraphy and ink-and-wash paintings. He advocates the integration of eastern and western art and has created unique oil paintings crafting poetic imagery by innovatively applying Wang Guowei’s artistic theory to his own works. Under the background consisting of such factors as nationalization and localization of oil paintings, the paper has explored the Chinese-western fusion pattern, specific features of the artistic language as well as the aesthetic pursuit mirrored in Zhu Naizheng’s works, followed by the conclusion regarding to his artistic style and contribution as well as the reflection provoked by the research on the future development of contemporary Chinese oil painting.
