We have to request something from others and are often being requestedby others in our everyday life. Therefore, how to propose a request and howto refuse a request are the two issues that cannot be evaded. Despite the essential contradiction between request and refusal, much pertinence occurs in the perspective of linguistics, both of which are classified as “Face Threatening Acts”.“Refusal Speech Act” always arises after the appearance of another speechact including “Request” as a response. The bilateral sides of request and refusal in speech acts will inevitably adjust homologous strategies and expression methods according to their replies so that respective goals can be accomplished, hoping that contradictions and collisions can be mitigated and reduced to the largest extent. As interaction differs, the development structures of the move of request and refusal parts definitely vary in the dialogue. Therefore, the study selected students majoring Korean from8colleges as subjects investigated. After setting the situations and stages of the experiment bymeans of questionnaires and preparative experiments, dialogues lasting for4hours46minutes and10seconds were recorded through “role act”. After the revision from the macroscopic perspective of dialogue structure and the microscopic perspective of strategies and expressive methods including pragmatics errors, the qualitative and quantitative analysis was done. Then, conclusions were drawnas follows:1.B structure only comprising core dialogues in which few transfer of re-request dialogues appears is chief in the development of learners’“request-refusal”dialogues. There is not much use of transfer of the preparative and followingdialogues. 2. Although a good many sorts of strategies and expression methods are usedin the learners’ request-refusal dialogues, the frequency is highly focused on several words revealing an “overwhelming” situation.3. Judging from the distribution of the controlling factors that affect the useof strategies and methods, the learners’ request-refusal dialogues mainly concentrate on the setting of the equal position and familiarity in the requestrather than other backgrounds.4. The linguistic pragmatics in the learners’ request-refusal dialogues includesexpression pragmatics of sentence pattern, ending and negation, social pragmatics which contains pragmatics of words for showing respects, aiding verbs, affirmation and negation and vague expression. The study combines the quiescent use of speech act strategies and methodswith the dynamic dialogue sequence on the base of dialogue analysis theory for the first time and investigates the learners’ request-refusal dialogues through role act. It also analyses the linguistic pragmatics and finally takes it as a ground to construct the speech act teaching methods of Korean, providing theoretical and practical foundation for the same sort of researches.
