Research On Fang Fang’s Novels

She shows great concern to the destiny of different people, such as the urban poor, ordinary citizens, intellectuals, women, etc with the intellectual’s conscience and responsibility all the way. With independent and free attitude, she has been experiencing and feeling their love, hate, sorrow and joy through her life and soul all the way. Then she examine closely these people’s living condition and their human nature modal with a calm manner to express her unique cognition and thought of the society, the life, and the destiny. Fang Fang is more like a thinker to seek hope in gloomy despair during writing her novel. There is a heavy feeling of sorrow in most of her novels. One hand, she examines carefully the life of citizens and uncovers mercilessly the disgusting human nature in city, on the other hand, she thinks intellectuals’ destiny and personality deeply and sighs with emotion their tragedy density. Moreover, she has been making unremitting efforts to explore cultural memory of the city and to express in writing her deep feeling of Wuhan city. In a word, she expresses her unique understanding of love and dead, good and evil, right and fault, beauty and ugliness, victory and defeat through her novels. Although we feel that Fang Fang is very pessimistic and despair before the social reality through reading her novels, we can feel faintly that there is blurred hope and dawn in her novels.Fang Fang has been paying attention to exhaling the old methods and skills and inhale the new ones during writing the novel all the time, and she has been trying to make use of the strong points of other writers. Firstly, in order to highlighting the theme of the novel’s connotation and enhancing the effect of reading novels, Fang Fang does not only schedule various kinds of narrative angle flexibly and build narrative structure freely but also set narrative mystery cleverly. Furthermore, she can also break through the traditional novel stylistic limitations to try poetic novels, prose novels and other literary forms which make the novels have unique aesthetic artistic effect. Lastly, she can use modern Chinese easy to form a kind of language art which is elegance or vulgarity, serious or humorous together that gives the readers a unique reading enjoyment.
