| Since the end of19century, with the modern transformation of the metropolitan space, the popular fiction is very flourishing in Shanghai though it is always criticized and its esthetic value is ignored for a long time.Based on the space theory, combing the mass aesthetics with the civil society theory and referring to urbanlogy, sociology, history, philosophy etc., this thesis tries to clarify the esthetic characteristics on themes, genres and narration and so on from massive and specific novel text as data. Meanwhile, we also consider the influence of metropolitan space transformation on production, consumption and acceptance of fiction so as to grasp the aesthetic imagination and the cultural constitution from fiction to metropolitan space.This thesis is totally divided into four parts:Part Ⅰ:The structure and the nature of Shanghai metropolitan space.The metropolitan space of Shanghai at least includes three levels: foreign settlements and physical spaces, civil societies and spiritual spaces, bodies and social spaces, and they are integrated and distillated.Part Ⅱ:Metropolitan space and theme modality of popular fiction. This part mainly takes some spaces as examples, such as, foreign settlement, private detective agency, stock exchange, harem, and brothel and so forth, finding out the theme that is presented by popular fiction.Part III:Metropolitan space and genre aesthetics of popular fiction.Genre fiction is the result of the in-depth development of economy on industrials and commercials. Starting from specific novel text, this part respectively discusses the aesthetics features of genre fiction, such as romantic fiction, social fiction, detective novels and martial arts novels, etc.Part IV:Metropolitan space and narrative aesthetics of popular fiction.Popular fiction takes homogeneous and parody means to describe the modern society. While, popular fiction presents daily life and publicizes perceptual desires, emphasizing the planarization and splinter narration. |
