LI Se (1328-1396, other name:zi; Yingshu, hao; Muyin) is the succession of teachings from Goryeo learned man LI Qixian, he is not only the representative poet of Chinese poem at the end of Goryeo Dynasty and the beginning of Joseon Dynasty, but also the poet who creates the largest Chinese poems among ancient Korean scholars. Because Goryeo Dynasty affected by China’s politics and culture, Goryeo Dynasty adopted the Imperial Examination System and educated students with Chinese Confucianism thought education, and LI Se comes from Confucian scholar family and he is influenced by traditional Chinese Confucianism thought education who accepted positively and studied the essence of ancient Chinese literature. In May,1348, Li Se, at the age of 20, went to Imperial College of Yuan Dynasty for a journey of 3-year learning. In March,1354, he attended in and passed imperial examination of Yuan Dynasty, and then became the disciple of Ouyang Xuan who is known as the First Writer of Yuan Dynasty. The learning experience of attending Imperial Academy for LI Se and the official experience in Yuan dynasty make LI Se to have deep attainments for Chinese history, literature, Neo-Confucianism and also offer him an opportunity to absorb broad and profound Chinese culture, learn and create lots of-graceful Chinese poetry writing with studying and imitating Chinese classical maters and masterpieces.After he returns to his country, he successively serves as many critical posts such as Goryeo Sungkyunkwan Libationer, Tongzhi Gongju (namely assist examiner) and Director of the Chancellery. He is especially devoted to exhort and promote inferiors, thus cultivating a large number of literati and Confucian scholars such as Zheng Daochuan, Quan Jin, Zheng Mengzhou and Ji Ran, and making great contributions to the vigorous development of Chinese literature in Korea and the east spreading of Neo Confucianism. After the establishment of Joseon Dynasty, he, with the idea of "no man can serve two masters", resigns for reclusion, living a free and unfettered life.As a literary master of Goryeo Dynasty, he creates a great number of poems and Cifu (a literary form) with high literary value. His works not only are loved and held in esteem by the scholars of later ages, but also set an example and provide much precious experience for Korean scholars of later ages to create Chinese poems. In the meanwhile, his poems and Cifu produced after his full acceptation of ancient Chinese literature factors are the treasure of Korean Chinese poem literatures, not to mention his huge and eternal masterpieces that are valuable heritage shared by Chinese and Korean people.In strict accordance with guiding principle of Marxist historical materialism and materialist dialectics, the paper studies the relation between Chinese poem creation of Li Se and ancient Chinese literature to explain Li Se’acceptation of ancient Chinese literature and discuss Li Se’achievements and historical contributions through the application of research methods such as biography and comparative literature, and literary theories such as reception aesthetics.This thesis divides into the following chapters to discuss surround the relevance between the Chinese poetry for LI Se and Classical Chinese Literature thoroughly:Chapter one is introduction. It mainly states research object and writes the research results and the present situation for LI Se and his poetic prose at home and abroad and also introduce research purpose, significance and research method.Chapter Two detailed introduces living historical background, all his life and the traditional literature origins of LI Se and expounds Chinese complex and thought Born in a family of famous Confucian, he receives Confucianism education and reads Confucian classics from his childhood. Under the influence of his father Li Gu and his tutor Li Qixian, he leaves for Yuan Dynasty for 4-year learning and government official life. During the 4 year, he has a deep learning and a wide absorption of extensive and profound Chinese culture, further improving his Chinese culture attainments. As a Confucian, his thought of respecting Chinese culture is an important part of his Confucianism. Highly respecting and cherishing Chinese orthodox culture, namely the thought of respecting Chinese culture, has been deeply rooted in his mind. It can be said that China complex is the basic thought and emotion by which he creates Chinese poems.Chapter three explains his Chinese poems and his acceptation of Chinese traditional thoughts. As a literary master of Goryeo Dynasty, he is well-read and produces numerous poems and articles. His over 6000 Chinese poems of various types and styles truly reflect sprit features in his times, as well as rich thoughts and emotions as a poet. His Chinese poems are characterized by various styles such as vigorousness, elegancy, plain and delicacy. He widely accepts Neo-Confucianism and has it brought to his country, making indelible contributions to east spreading of Neo-Confucianism. In addition, he actively accepts Chinese traditional thoughts such as "Thinking Purely" (good thoughts) and "Demonstrating Ideal through Writing" Under the influence of such thoughts, he produces a great number of works, heralding the booming of Chinese culture in Korea.Chapter Four introduces that LI Se’s Chinese poetry accepted and quoted the factors of Chinese literature, it’s conducive to understanding origin and poetic style of LI Se’s Chinese poetry. LI Se has deep Chinese culture implication, he read carefully over and over again for many of Chinese literate and their literatures such as Tao Yuanming, Li Bai, Du Fu, Su Shi and records in all China ages and poetry and prose for more than 120 scholars, he can speak on a subject with great familiarity for lots of allusion and wild about writing freely without too much hesitation for all kinds of Chinese cultural allusions flexibility in the use of his own Chinese poetry to enhance expressive force of his works and lingering charm and interest of Chinese poetry making that his many Chinese poetry works displaying more abundant connotation an-d deep China’ s cultural implication. At the same time, it fully shows that LI Se’s high creation level for Chinese poetry and Chinese culture have a strong impact on literati of the Korean peninsula according to LI Se quotes generally Chinese culture.Chapter Five expounds that LI Se takes example by Chinese poetry style. LI Se admired and read carefully over and over again for many of Chinese literati and their literatures such as TAO Yuanming, DU Fu, Han Yu, SU Shi, Huang Tingjian and he studied hard and absorbed the essence of excellent literary works of Chinese past dynasties. So the poet’s Chinese works with all kinds of themes in his life take Chinese poetry shadow inevitably. LI Se accepted the impact of Chinese poetry and took example by Chinese poetry style to create lots of graceful poem with all kinds of themes such as landscape poems, landscape garden, poems, lament, painting combining reality which himself in and his unique thoughts and feelings.Chapter Six expounds that LI Se makes his way in life after accepting classical Chinese literature. Plenty of Chinese poems of Li Se makes the Korean ancient Chinese poetry possessing and makes the Korean Chinese poetry becoming abundant in expression means, makes the style tending to diversify, makes the form becoming more flexible to open really flourishing situation for Korean Chinese poetry. Besides, his works representing Neo-Confucianism theories and opinions become not only the source of Chinese literature in the initial stage of Joseon Dynasty, but also the origin of Korean academism and Sarim literatures. As a leading scholar of Korean Neo-Confucianism and literary magnate of Goryeo Dynasty, his contribution to the spreading of Neo-Confucianism is highly appreciated by later generations. His Chinese poems are also admired and praised by Korean scholars such as Quan Jin, Xu Juzheng, Xu Yun and Li Suiguang and Chinese scholars such as Qian Qianyi. The reason of getting the glorious and remarkable achievements for LI Se and LI Se and his poetry deeply affect the later generations is LI Se accepting and studying factors of Chinese literature in the round.Chapter Seven is conclusion section. It writes the relevance between the LI Se’s Chinese poetry and Classical Chinese literature and affirms LI Se’s achievement by accepting Classical Chinese literature and contribution to the development of Korean the Han literature and culture exchange between China and Korea.
