Currently, while facing an increasing complicated social background, people will find out that religion has become a global cultural situation and social issue. In-depth study on Marx religious thought is a necessary to the construction of Marxism religious theory and dealing of social ethical relationship, especially under the background of religious renaissance. Based on the complicated religious situation, people need to rethink the practical value of Marxism religious thought.Marx’s religious thought is a crucial part of Marxism religious thought. Though it is not the core part of the philosophy, Marxism religion has in-depth influence on modern society. Through its history, people can trace back to the source of Marx religious thought. Marx succeeds the retrospection of modern philosophy on the existence and development of human beings, emphases on people’s subjectivity and transcendence. It criticizes the reality instead of religion and finally emancipates people’s thought.Marx’s religion has undergone four phases, namely theism, the appearance of atheism, critics on theism and the revisions on religious thought in his late days, among which the religious thought in his middle-aged period and late days should be concerned with special attention. Marx is clear that religious criticism is not his final target. What matters is the methods that through religious criticism to criticize the social reality which makes religion an alien force. Therefore, when he noticed the history of religious development, he knew the importance of religion on the promotion of human civilization. Notes of Anthropology written in his late days can prove it.Marx has an array of works on religion, in various levels and from different perspectives. The theory of the opium influences most, because its existence and development are driven by social demands which is closely linked to the social background. But, in final analysis, it’s one of his explanations on religion with transitional and periodically characteristics not the nature of religion. While doing a comprehensive and historical research on Marxism religion, people found that religion is a way of controlling the world which would be better to define Marxism’s explanation on the nature of religion. His explanation that religion is a part of people’s consciousness enables us to better understand the rising and development of religion which belongs to human consciousness. Marx cleared that religion is doomed to die. While, with the revival of modern religion, religion is interdependent and interconnected with social economy and politic issue both in personal or public area, which making a new round of global religious renaissance. One thing must be sure that under the religious renaissance are social crisis and spiritual crisis.In the process of globalization, despite of many complex and diversified religious problems we are faced with, it can be carried out that, if people view religion not the derivative of economy and politic but view it from the prospect of culture and history, the rise of religion is the result of people’s recognition to nature, and human’s practical activity is the driving force of religious behavior and the alienation of industry is the determinant of the existence of religion. Under such a complicated environment, people should adhere to the fact that the freedom of belief believed by Maxim is the basic freedom while dealing political and religious relations. And special attention should be paid to the three diffident stages in political and religious relation. When religion is in state status, people is not entirely emancipated. After the entrance of domestic system, religion become secularized. People at that time also is not totally emancipated despite of the emancipation in political area. When there is no country and religion is entirely rooted out, people can finally achieve self-liberation. Grasping the development of the intrinsic relation between religion and country, the appropriate handling of religious issue, neither radically nor conservatively, will be achieved. Presently, religious thoughts still guide the resolution towards real problems. The emancipation of human beings is what Marxism religion concerns most. Hence, when dealing with religious problems, we should adhere to the idea of putting people first, carrying out the positive influence of religion and curbing its negative influence so as to promote the establishment of harmonious society featured by national solidarity and common development.
