| The 17th NCCPC has set forth "advocation and spread of theory system on socialism with Chinese characteristics for promoting the popularization of contemporary Chinese Marxism", which provides us with not only a clear direction to study Marxism cinicization, but also explicit task. Marxism popularization is to turn Marxism from abstraction to concrete, from esoteric to popularization, from being mastered by the few to being mastered by the mass. Vigorous promotion of contemporary Chinese marxism popularization is to make the newest achievements of marxism cinicization which equals to theorical system of socialism with Chinese characteristics concrete in content and popular in style in order to arm the CPCC as well as to educate the people with it and make them practice contemporary Chinese Marxism conscionsly. Promoting contemporary Chinese Marxism popularization can not set aside history, but must be carried out consideration of historical experience and laws under new circumstances. CPCC, since its foundation, has put emphasis on the combination of theory and practice, and on advocation and popularization of Marxism, so as to strengthen the advocation and education of Marxism, as well as to guide the mass to pioneer history consciously with more activity and creativity. The core members of CPCC have been especially excellent examples of promoting Marxism popularization. Deng Xiaoping is such one. His effort to promote the popularization of Mao Zedong Thought offered him rich experience in promoting the popularization of contemporary Chinese Marxism. And his promoting the popularization of Deng Xiaoping Theory is not only a part of popularization of contemporary Chinese Marxism,but has gathered rich experience for its going on.The paper is comprised of introduction and five chapters.The introduction focuses on the meaning of the paper, a literature review of status quo of domestic and national study, the outline of paper writing and major points of innovation. Its purpose is to give a panoramic impression to readers on Deng Xiaoping’s contribution to promoting the popularization of Marxism and a general program of the whole paper.Chapter 1 has elaborated Deng Xiaoping’s contributions to popularization of Marxism-Leninismand esp. Mao Zedong Thought. Firstly, Deng Xiaoping has promoted the popularization of Mao Zedong Thought by publicizing and implementing CPC’s lines, principles and policies creatively in different periods. Secondly, as an important member of the first generation of collective leadership, Deng Xiaoping has enriched and developed Mao Zedong Thought and promoted its popularization. Thirdly, as the core of the second generation of collective leadership, he has made scientific appreciation of Mao Zedong and Mao Zedong Thought, separated Mao Zedong’s mistakes made in his later life from Mao Zedong Thought, corrected such mistakes for guarding Mao Zedong Thought, as well as recovered the true features of Marxism-Leninism and Mao Zedong Thought through setting things right and led the whole party and people from all ethnic groups to realize the leap in understanding Marxism-Leninism and Mao Zedong Thought based on emancipating the mind.Chapter 2 has elaborated Deng Xiaoping’scontribution to the popularization of Chinese modern marxismr in the process of answering the question of " What is Socialism".In the first place,Deng Xiaoping has guided Chinese people to emancipate their minds by opposing "two whatevers",carrying out hot debate on "practice is the sole criterion for testing truth",and restoring the party’s ideological line of seeking truth from factors.Secondly, by answering and clarifying "What is Marxism, and what is socialism", and led them to grasp socialism essentially,which has consteucted the foundation for popularizing Marxism correctly,but led the people to understand socialism’s from practice but not the notebook and so solved the scientific question of Marxist popularization. Thirdly, He has established socialist initial stage theory and solved the breakthrough point for promoting Marxist popularization. Fourthly, he has proposed that socialism may also practice market economy, led the people not to understand market economy from social system, and made market economy a toll for developing the modern economy unified it with the socialist basic system, and put forward socialist market economy theory, not only enriching and developing Marxist economic theory, perfecting socialist basic economic system, but embodying socialist superiority by safeguarding and realizing common prosperity,making the people accept and understand Marxismbased on enjoying much more real benefits while socialism with Chinese characteristics demonstrate its formidable vitality. Fifthly, Deng Xiaoping has reconsidered the socialist countries’s mistakes in democracy practice, and made democracy not just a tool for emancipating the mind and building socialism but on important content of socialism.Chapter 3 focuses on Deng Xiaoping’s practical contribution to advancing the popularization of Marxism in the process of exploring "How to build socialism", which is embodied in the following four aspects:first of all, Socialism with Chinese characteristics construction bases on reality. The answers to "Why to insist on Socialism" and "What socialism should we insist on" have resolved such problem as what flag and way China should take in the new historical conditions, which has pointed out the direction of promoting Marxism popularization. Secondly, he has explored the modernization way with Chinese characteristics on which Marxism popularization is promoted by the combination of basic principles of Marxism and Chinese people’s good wish to improve material and cultural life continuously. Thirdly he has showed great respect to the great practice of the masses. Deng Xiaoping has made the masses recognize that Marxism must be that fitting for Chinese facts and socialism must be that with Chinese characteristics. The basic policy of opening to the outside world is carried out, absorbing, learning and making advantage of all excellent achievement created by human beings to build socialism, combining the openness of Marxism with great rejuvenation of Chinese nation. Fourthly, Socialist ideological civilization lies on construction. By stricing to developing education, science and culture,he has offered scientifical and cultural conditions for promoting contemporary Chinese Marxism popularization, made the mass accept and appreciate Marxism, as well as made socialism with Chinese characteristics demonstrate its great vitality.Chapter Four analyses the features embodied in Deng Xiaoping’s promotion of Marxism popularization. The theories of each time are bound to reflect the nature of the development of politics, economics, culture and society, as well as show their own characteristics. And the politician representatives of the era are also certain to show their own characteristics in the process of developing theories and advancing the conversion of theories to practice. Deng Xiaoping, as a great Marxist, has shown the characteristics of his time and his personality during the process of advancing the popularization of Marxism. The characteristics are as follows:First, a firm belief in Marxism is the motive force to promote the popularization of Marxism. He believed that the faith in Marxism is our real advantage and there would be more and more people in favor of Marxism all around the world. Second, Marxism-Leninism learning should be refined and useful. Promoting the popularization of Marxism is based on the study of Marxism, while Marxism-Leninism learning should be refined and useful. Marxism is a very simple truth, not mysterious. Third, wide-using and easy-understanding are the language features. Preaching is an important approach to advancing Marxism’s popularization, which requires the usage of simple and popular language to be understood by the masses. During the process of promoting the popularization of Marxism, Deng Xiaoping used a lot of fresh language to be understood and remembered by the masses, such as, the saying that not to forget our forefathers is taken advantage of as a scientific attitude towards Marxism; development is an unyielding principle, which reflects the superiority of socialism; "unqualified" grasps the primary stage of socialism with Chinese characteristics; common prosperity ties Marxism to good wish of the masses. Fourth, acting according to dialectics is the methodology feature. In terms of basic methods, Deng Xiaoping’s efforts to promote the popularization of Marxism are based on the basic principle of Marxist dialectical materialism and historical materialism and adhere to the ideological guidance of emancipating mind and seeking the truth from the facts. While, the concrete application of the methods highlights its own characteristics, for example, while answering what socialism is, he positively employed the negative-positive way;’cat theory’-grasping the essence of things; "two overall concerns"——overall consideration; opposing "left" while it emerges,and opposing right while it emerges, and so forth. Fifth, speaking with the facts is the practice feature. First try, first break, respect of practice, and respect of the masses; no arguing and allowing people to do that.Convincing people to believe in socialism with our development.Chapter five expounds the fundamental experiences of Deng Xiaoping’s promotion of Marxism popularization. In the historic journey of promoting Marxism popularization, Deng Xiaoping took a part of link between the past and the future. He made a unique contribution in promoting the popularization of Marxism under certain social and historical conditions on the basis of practice. The contributions have provided us with rich experience in pushing forward the popularization of Marxism and laid foundation for us doing so. The fundamental experience is as follows:First, the foundation and prerequisite of promoting the popularization of Marxism is to adhere to and develop Marxism. Second, the key to promoting the popularization of Marxism is to uphold the Party’s leadership. Third, respect for and belief in the masses are fundamental for pushing forward the popularization of Marxism. Fourth, conducting active ideological struggle and making use of Marxism to lead kinds of social thoughts. Fifth, Marxism popularization is promoted in the process of summing up experience. |
