Deng Xiaoping's Marxist theoretical education thought is a collection of a series of Deng's ideas on what Marxism is, how to treat Marxism, and why and how we should carry out Marxist theoretical education for the majority of party cadres and the masses. It is a complete and scientific ideology consisting of Deng Xiaoping's thought on the status and task, subject and object, content and form, principle and methods of Marxist theoretical education. It is the scientific theory that guides the Party's propaganda and education in Marxist theory and that must be studied by the general Party members and cadres, and the masses. The study of Deng Xiaoping's Marxist theoretical education thought is of great theoretical and practical significance to deepening the study of Deng Xiaoping Theory, and to exploring the theoretical education and the educational law of Marxist theory, especially the theoretical system of socialism with Chinese characteristics under new circumstances.This introduction clarifies that Deng Xiaoping's Marxist theoretical education thought is taken as research object, analyzes both the links with and differences from Deng Xiaoping's Marxist concept and Deng Xiaoping's educational thought, introduces the research in Deng Xiaoping's Marxist theoretical education thought in recent years, describes the research methods and innovations in this dissertation, and discusses the significance of this research—deepening the understanding of and research in Deng Xiaoping Theory, deepening the study of Marxist theoretical education, and contributing to the innovation in Marxist theoretical education practiceChapter one discusses the historical and logical context of the formation of Deng Xiaoping's Marxist theoretical education thought. Deng Xiaoping's Marxist theoretical education thought is formed in socialist construction and reform and opening up that takes peaceful development as the social theme. Deng Xiaoping's Marxist theoretical education thought originates from the theoretical education thought of Marx, Engels, Lenin and Mao Zedong and the idea of traditional Chinese culture. The strong mastery of Marxist theory, firm Marxist political belief, innovative critical spirit, truth-seeking and pragmatic work style are the subjective conditions for the formation and development of Deng Xiaoping's Marxist theoretical education thought and its formation and development experiences three stages, respectively, germination, gestation, and formation. Chapter two discusses the commonality and individuality of theoretical education thought of Deng Xiaoping. Marx, Engels. Lenin and Mao Zedong. They possess such commonality as distinct class characteristics, prominent scientific features, pragmatic practical features, and scientific critical features. It is formed in a new era a specific historical period in China and thus possesses such individuality as combining moral encouragement and material encouragement. Party spirit and scientific nature, theoretical and pragmatic nature, and inheritance and innovation.Chapter three discusses Deng Xiaoping's thought on the status and tasks of Marxist theoretical education. Deng Xiaoping, based on the strategic level of the Party and country's fate and future, puts forward such ideas concerning the status and tasks of Marxist theoretical education as Marxist theoretical education is the Party's fine tradition and political superiority, is the important guarantee of the socialist modernization, and matters to the fate and the future of the Party and the country. Facing new historical task, Deng Xiaoping puts forward the aim and tasks of Marxist theoretical education is to cultivate new generations with "four qualifications" for the sake of modern construction.Chapter four discusses Deng Xiaoping's thought on the content and form of Marxist theoretical education. Based on the analysis of international and domestic situation and the actual needs of socialist modernization, Deng Xiaoping puts forward that ideological theoretical education should take as main education content the basic principles of Marxism. Mao Zedong Thought, and the theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics. In order to achieve the intended purpose of education, Deng Xiaoping put forward that the following innovative Marxist theoretical education approaches should be followed:classroom education in the school as the main front and main channel, the Party rectification movement, carrying out the great debate "practice is the sole criterion of truth,", media publicity and education, and carrying out theoretical studies continually.Chapter five discusses Deng Xiaoping's thought on the subject and object of Marxist theoretical education. Who educates whom is the key issue in Marxist theoretical education. Deng points out the Party and the Youth League organizations, trade unions, schools, specialized agencies of ideological and political work education are the education subjects on the level of organization, the Party's political cadres, teachers, and the ideological front soldiers are the education subjects on the level of the masses, and puts forward the idea of the entire party and community collectively joining their efforts. Deng Xiaoping puts forward that the objects should include the Party members and cadres, the working class, intellectuals, youth, soldiers and especially the Party cadres and the youth should be key education targets.Chapter six discusses Deng Xiaoping's thought on the principles and methods of Marxist theoretical education. Scientific principles and methods are key factors to achieving substantial results in theoretical education, so Deng Xiaoping makes it clear that the Marxist theoretical education should follow such principles as combining theory with practice, "never forget our forefathers," "learning Marxism-Leninism should be in a refined and effective way". In order to implement these principles into educational practice, Deng Xiaoping puts forward the following education method should be adopted:theoretical education method, persuasion method, self-education method, criticism and self- criticism method and etc.Chapter seven discusses the contribution and significance of Deng Xiaoping's Marxist theoretical education thought. It is an inheritance and development to the educational ideas of Marx, Engels, Lenin, and Mao Zedong, adds new content to the Party's treasure house of Marxist educational theory, and has a profound impact on the Party's theoretical education practice. Under new historical conditions, Deng Xiaoping's Marxist theoretical education thought is still of great guiding significance to practice.Chapter eight discusses Jiang Zemin and Hu Jintao's succession and development to Deng Xiaoping's Marxist theoretical education thought. With Jiang Zemin, as the core of the third generation of central collective leadership, and Hu Jintao, as the core of central collective leadership, based on the facts, current situation faced by the nation and the Party, and demands of a new era, put great emphasis on the attention to the important role of Marxist theoretical education in the reform and opening up and modernization, inherit and develop Deng Xiaoping's Marxist theoretical education thought on the status, tasks, content, principles and methods of Marxist theoretical education, and make a new contribution to the Party's theoretical education.
