Research On Urban Integration Development Of Metropolitan Areas

With the rapid development of economic globalization and the regional urbanization, the process of city regionalization and regional integration is accelerating, the phenomenon of City Integration gradually appears within the metropolitan areas.As one of the most important spatial carriers of regional urbanization, metropolitan area is not only an important frontier area of urban geography and regional economics, but also it is an important practice area of urban planning in recent years of China. City integration is the product of a certain stage of metropolitan. As an important form of metropolitan, it is an important way of the construction of metropolitan area. The research on City Integration is helpful to improve the urbanization level, stimulate the coordinative development of city and promote regional competitiveness.This paper aims to provide reference for metropolitan areas development and city integration. Using a combination method of theory and empirical analysis on the basis of economic geography, urban planning, regional economics, urban economics,urban geography. The author constructs the basic theoretical system of City Integration in metropolitan area., and discusses the conditions, elements, type and approach of City Integration. At last, take Shenyang and Fushun metropolitan area as an example, considers the conditions and motivation of Shenyang-Fushun metropolitan area. And then, provides the control measures and strategic vision of the integration of Shenyang and Fushun. The paper can be divided into six chapters:Chapter one:To Previous studies as background, it Focus on economic globalization, regional integration context of rapid urbanization andmetropolitan city phenomenon. Discusses the concept and content of City Integration, and summarizes the significance of City Integration in metropolitan areas.Chapter two:Full analysis of the cases which are relatively mature domestic metropolitan interlocking region, metropolitan area and within the space stretching. Sums up the characteristics, rules and experience of City Integration by using case study. The case study focus on the megalopolis and metropolitan areas and their internal areas at home and abroad. For example, The case study of abroad contains metropolitan areas of northeastern United States, London, Paris, Lance Tadema and Tokyo. Domestic case covers the metropolitan areas of Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, and two co-urbannized areas of Xi’an-Xiang Yang and Zheng Zhou-Kai Feng.Chapter three:Constructs the theoretical framework of the City Integration of metropolitan based on the combing of relevant theory of urban, region and metropolitan areas of different disciplines. They include metropolitan theory, urban and region planning theory, especially sums up co-urbanized theory and make some reference theory and methods.Chapter four:On the basis of relevant case, studies the principles, objective, conditions, types and modes of city integration in metropolitan areas.Starts a typology study of City Integration firstly, and summarizes the different conditions and different modes, attempts to provide help to the study and practice of City Integration.Chapter five:Start from the perspective of main content and facing problem of city integration of metropolitan areas, focuses on the essence and mechanism of industry problem, spatial problem, infrastructure problem and ecological elements problem during the process of metropolitan area inner city integration. Provide regulatory pathways of elements of City Integration. Seeks to grasp the inner city development mechanism, reasonable regulation of citydevelopment.Chapter six:Empirical research of the integration of Shenyang and Fushun. Based on the background of spatial integration of Shenyang metropolitan, analyzes the background and conditions, process and trends, motivation of the integration of Shenyang and Fushun, then puts forward the significant progress achieved in practice, describes the development of Shenyang and Fushun city’s strategic vision.
