Development and utilization of mineral resources have a relationship to the nationalstrategy and important economic significance. Therefore, the quantitative prediction ofmineral resources plays a very important role. With the development of the discipline, a lot ofresearch on the quantitative prediction were taken. With the rapid development of computerscience and technology, it is particularly necessary to help the work of prediction of mineralresources by using computer software to assist in processing a large number of calculations.Throughout the previous results of the previous studies, computer programs mostly weretreated as supporting tools in one of the sessions to help the prediction of mineral resources. However, there is a lot of work need to be done which could deliver the entire workflow tosoftware. So it will has a special significance to compose a software system with a set ofoperational processes by combine the quantitative prediction methods and processes withcomputer technology closely. In this paper, with the methods of comprehensive information prediction in mineralresources, the main workflow of quantitative prediction was determined by the idea of“qualitative first and quantitative after”. That is: calculate the weights of every variable ofeach unit, and estimate the probability of mineralization, pick out the units that has a highprobability of mineralization. Based on this, use the mathematical methods to estimate theamount of resources. By this way, the situation that the unit with high amount of resources butsmall metallogenic probability can be avoid, and the accuracy can be effectively increased.Base on this process, using the knowledge of software engine and programming, an system of prediction including from data input to result of prediction will be built. Provide a viabel ideafor the integration of information technology and quantitative prediction. The system has the following characteristics:1.geological data as the input of the system, being the basis of the entire prediction;2.“qualitative first, quantitative after” as the principle of the system;3.a complete database to be built for storing the result of every calculations step;4.recording the actions of user operations, and could be checkout if necessary;5.provide a variety of mathematical models for users to choose;6.meet different needs by creating different user types;7.independent subsystem of publishment to ensure the security of data. The system of quantitative prediction is divided into three subsystems: data subsystem, prediction subsystem and subsystem of result publishment, taking three different classes ofbusiness by three different feature sets.Data subsystem is responsible for the data storage, conversion of the entire system, preparing the data for calculating by the system, and the data to be displayed by subsystem ofresult distribution. Taking into account the security of data, the data of prediction anddistribution are separated physically. the subsystem of data contains a set of uniform dataaccess interface which packaged the entire database within the boundaries limited and beaccessed through.Net data access components as an intermediate layer. The subsystem of prediction takes the major business of prediction. By dividing the workof prediction into several steps, it can be the core of the entire system. Based on database, thesubsystem provides the accessing and calculations of data, and using the mathematical modelto calculates, the store the result in tables and images into database. The subsystem of distribution is the platform which using.Net technology to distributethe result of predictions, and display for different users in different forms. It contains theinformations such as the level of units, the total amount of resources, the amount of resourceof each unit, etc..And there is still a lot of work about the research of the quantitative prediction system ofmineral resource to do. With the development of three-dimensional visualization technology,it will be necessary to introduce into this kind of system, and the process optimization and the structure of distributed system also will be required.
