With the rapid development of application technology for hydraulic asphaltconcrete, many rock-fill dams with asphalt concrete core recently have beenconstructed or in plan. The engineering characteristics include tight schedule, highconstruction intensity, more kinds of machinery, complex constraint condition and soon, like conventional rock-fill dam. But the construction has particular technologicalprocess and control criterion, making a reasonable schedule become a great challenge.To solve the above-mentioned problems, the construction simulation theory ofconventional rock-fill dam has been used for reference at present. However thespecial characteristics of its construction operation mechanism can not be reflected,using original simulation models. So combining with the analysis and control ofconstruction progress, the research on construction simulation theory and applicationfor rock-fill dam with asphalt concrete core is carried on in this paper. The dynamicsimulation technology on whole construction process and virtual interactivesimulation technology for construction site layout are presented. The prediction forconstruction schedule of rock-fill dam with asphalt concrete core is implemented; Themulti-scheme optimization for construction is realized; The efficient integrationmanagement and analysis for the construction site layout is implemented. Theconclusions of this study are listed as follows.(1) Comprehensively considering various factors affecting the rock-fill dam typeselection, the hierarchical optimization model of dam type selection is established.Combining with an actual hydropower project, aiming at the three common types ofthe rock-fill dam (concrete face rock-fill dam, gravel soil core dam and asphaltconcrete core dam), this model is solved using AHP and TOPSIS methods. Then therock-fill dam with asphalt concrete core is determined to be the best dam type.(2) The construction operation mechanism of rock-fill dam with asphalt concretecore is described in detail. The complicated construction system affected bymulti-factor is decomposed and coordinated; Considering the complex constraints ofconstruction process, the mathematic logic relation model of dynamic constructionsimulation for rock-fill dam with asphalt concrete core is established; According tothe construction technology characteristics of rock-fill dam with asphalt concrete core,the strategy and method for dynamic simulation are analyzed in detail, providing a theoretical basis to reveal the inherent complex law of construction process; On thisbasis, the construction simulation system of rock-fill dam with asphalt concrete coreis researched and developed, providing an auxiliary analysis tool for the constructionmanagement personnel, and providing strong technical support for the high standardconstruction. The achievements of research are applied to a practical project, and theresults show the simulation model’s rationality and the technical method’s efficiency.(3) In view of the limitations for traditional two-dimensional construction sitelayout analysis method, through analysis of the coordinative relations for variousconstruction site layout sub-systems, the3D visualization technology of constructionsite layout is put forward. And the research on virtual simulation technology under thenetwork environment is carried out. Then based on the Unity3D engine, the remoteinteraction simulation system of construction site layout is developed, using Internetas medium. This system provides a good digital analysis platform for constructionmanagement personnel.
