A Study On Jiang Kai

As a famous literature in the early Qing Dynasty, Jiang Kai (1634～1701) makes great achievement in ci (a Chinese poetic genre), poem, essay and other fields. It is significant and important to study Jiang Kai, base on which not only can we get all-around detailed knowledge about Jiang Kai himself, find out how individuals being influenced by the particular social atmosphere and cultural background of the early Qing Dynasty, but also we can know more about the social environment, activities of the literati and aesthetic fashion of that time.This paper from five parts of family background, life story and works, circle of friends, poetry creation and ci creation combs and studies Jiang Kai’s literary creation comprehensively and systematically, digging up the spiritual intension of his works deeply, studying his artistic features.The whole paper is divided into two parts:the first part and the second part.The first part is divided into five chapters:Chapter one is the family background. Based on The North of Shexian Jiangcun Jiyang Jiang family genealogy and Chengyang records, referencing to the relevant history biography, notes, poem and essay, local records and other document literatures, it examines the origins and development of Jiyang Jiang family in detail, and discusses the impact of Jiangcun family tradition on the formation of Jiang Kai’s literary thoughts.Chapter two is the investigation of Jiang Kai’s Works and Life Story.It g ives an overview of Jiang Kai’s life story and writings. This chapter is divided into two parts. The first part comprehensive researchs Jiang Kai’s life, starting from the firsthand resources.Followed from them is the division of Jiang Kai’s life story into three stages in the present paper:his schooling and displacing in the boyhood, actively seeking for being officials in the period of drifting and realizing his aspiration in the period of being an official. The second part introduces the spreads of his writings and describes their versions and main collections of library. Chapter three is the investigation of Jiang Kai’s social intercourse. JiangKai had a large circle of friends in his lifetime. Their impact was significant in the shaping of Jiang Kai’s character and the success of his literature. So this chapter collects the information for the characters who shared a close relationship with and had great influence on Jiang Kai as widely as possible; for the ordinary friends, illustrate them in a list.Chapter four is the poem creation of Jiang Kai. It introduces and analyzes the situation of Jiang Kai’s poem creation. First, this chapter makes a concrete analysis of his poetics; Second, the content of his poetry is elaborated deeply from three parts: upright official feelings, loyalty and filial piety consciousness, landscape spirit meanwhile the artistic features of his poems are discussed.Chapter five is the study on the ci of Jiang Kai.This chapter is decided into three sections:Firstly, Jiang Kai’s ci is decided into landscape, meditate on the past, farewell and literati set four categories to carry on the analysis and research, according to the content. Secondly, it analyzes the self-images which express the author’s love consciousness and highlight the concept of family in the ci of Jiang Kai. Thirdly, it introduces the artistic characteristics of his ci.The second part is the chronology of Jiang Kai. This part tries to investigate and record Jiang Kai’s life, social intercourse and official career experience, display and reflect the historic background in which Jiang Kai lived, living environment, intercourse and life experiences, thus exhibiting the living conditions and profiles of literature activities of the scholars’ groups in the early Qing Dynasty.
