Chinese and Sri Lankan Buddhist history is very profound and informative; they represent one of the earliest and most splendid civilizations ever existed in the world. Both countries were regarded to have one of the four ancient civilizations. Those civilizations were strong and alive enough to survive as well as move forward for thousands of years while other ancient civilizations of Egypt and Babylon were interrupted and perished over the time.Chinese and Sri Lankan Buddhist Culture concept is very dissimilar. Although that there is one religion, there are two Buddhist practices Theravada in Sri Lanka and Mahayana in China have two different ways of wishes attaining spiritual enlightenment. Also, there are various different architectures, societies, cultures, ethics, Buddhist festivals, classics, and diverse areas (East Asia&South East Asia). Those are very interesting and significant. This research is aim to discover "A Comparative Study of China and Sri Lanka Buddhist Culture" This topic mainly elaborated throughout the following nine chapters.In the Research Overview, exploration of empirical research study and research methodology has been examined. Then simply narrate the research status of Sri Lankan and Chinese Buddhism and more focus to introduce some books or papers about the comparative study between Sri Lankan and Chinese Buddhism.The first chapter describes the "Basic information about Sri Lankan and Chinese Buddhism". Then the history of relation between China and Sri Lanka, the development and features of Sri Lankan Theravada Buddhism and Chinese Mahayana Buddhism.The second chapter will be "The comparison between Sri Lankan Buddhist and Chinese Buddhist". Following many areas:Sri Lankan Buddhist, the source and composition of Buddhist, the behavior of Buddhist in common life and their value, the source and composition of Buddhist in China, and the behavior of Buddhist in common life and their value.The third Chapter held on "The comparison between the classics of Sri Lankan and Chinese Buddhism". First section concerns two aspects. Describe many important classics of Sri Lankan Buddhism and introduce classic "Jathaka" that have the greatest influence on Sri Lankan Buddhism in detail. Second section concerns two aspects. Similarly introduction of the"Altar Sutra"《坛经》 in detail and classics of Chinese Buddhism is described in this chapter.The forth chapter describes "The comparison between the Ceremony and Festival of Sri Lankan and Chinese Buddhism", two countries celebrate many Buddhist ceremonies and festivals. These ceremonies and festivals are unique in both countries and such differences elaborated within this chapter.The fifth chapter explores "The comparison between the architectures of Sri Lankan and Chinese Buddhism" compared the Sri Lanka Buddhist architectural similarities and differences between the two countries. This chapter also examined that having distinct existing architectural structures between ancient Chinese and Sri Lankan architectures where both countries architectures considered being very significant in the world.The sixth chapter "The influences on the native society of Sri Lankan and Chinese Buddhism" explores the relationship between Buddhism and society. This chapter includes two aspects. Buddhism of China and Sri Lanka society has a profound impact. Many customs and ethics are derived from Buddhism. As Buddhism spread in China along with the progress of the society, the teachings unwittingly embedded deep in to people’s daily lives.The seventh chapter reveals "The spread of Sri Lankan and Chinese Buddhism." Having established Buddhist society in Sri Lanka and China, these Buddhist teachings spread among other countries.In conclusion, having researched about a comparative study of China and Sri Lanka Buddhist culture, summary was given about the main contents in the chapters above and opinions on the paper.Based on Chinese sources, there are other names which were used to refer to Sri Lanka, and some imported words are explained in glossary. This Dissertation concludes with an appendix and Sri Lankan and China historical reports.
