The Philosophical Research For Techno-Culture In Modern Shanxi Province

Dominated by the concept of social construction of technology, the current engineering traditional philosophy of technology researches abroad turn to the empirical study about technology practice and to the social dimension research of technology which is paying attention to the connection between technological rationality and technology practice and realize the fusion of humanism and engineering traditional study of technology. In contrast, the social dimension of research of technology is still in a state of absence in the current empirical turn of study of technology in engineering traditional research in China, and the fusion of humanism traditional study and engineering traditional study of technology, which comes based on the concept of technological rationality,has not happen yet. To trace back, this is because the lack of social philosophy researches in the field of humanism traditional philosophy of technology. That is to say, the domestic researches of humanistic tradition do not reveal the essence and form of technological rationalization of modern society from a perspective of social philosophy, just as the Frankfurt school. At the same time, philosophy of technology researches in the context of modern China have become a requirement of the domestic contemporary development of philosophy of technology and it should be the trend to research the technical rationalization on Chinese modern society.In this paper, the writer chooses modern Shanxi Province as the example to research time-space domain as its typical significance in the social modernization of China and its study with ease.This paper’s research angle is the theory that mutual construction of technology and modernity. Using Feenberg’s instrumentalization theory, the writer firstly analyzes the generating process and sign of technological rationality that based on technology practice in modern Shanxi, and then conducts academic researches on techno-culture.In chapter one, according to the secondary instrument sub-theory, the writer points out that the generating of technology rationality depends on the realization of the function of technology. Due to the insufficient determinate during the development of the technology, the realization of technology function depends on specific social situation, namely the realization of technology function must be on the premise of technology as a kind of social system. Specific to time-space domain of modern Shanxi, technology was given with the concept of social attribute at first in the process of technology import, which characterized by introduction of artifacts and knowledge as the representation of the modern concept and the formation of modern landscape of technology import practice of many aspects.In chapter two, based on the primary instrument sub-theory, the writer points out that the landscapes of technology import of modern Shanxi in the first chapter indicates that the social situation where realizes of technology function was based on has been revealed. Because of the realization of the function of technology pointing to technological rationality, thus exploring the representation of formation of technological rationality in modern Shanxi is necessary. The mainstream view of domestic academic circle is that external performance of technological rationality is automatic material production modes that based on the system of machine running. According to this view, in space-time domain of modern Shanxi, the establish of technical running system of industrial area marked the appearance of technology objectification of natural object, embodies the purpose-reasonable behavioral patt(?) that based on technical running rules, and characterizes the formation of society with technological rationality.In chapter three, based on the formation of technological rationality in modern society of Shanxi, according to academic path of techno-culture, the author investigates the process of technological rationalization in modern Shanxi with the field of the concept of value, namely the embodiment of spiritual-dimension of technological rationality in the modern society of Shanxi.This paper points out that this field is the earliest in the process of the rationalization of technology in the modern society of Shanxi and the promotion of concept of effectiveness and tool as industrialism spiritual temperament and that embodies the ideologicalization of technological rationality in modern Shanxi.In chapter four, the author inspects the embodiment of technological rationality of modern Shanxi according to the gradual process of rationalization of technology in techno-cultural view. Technological rationality of institutional-dimension of modern Shanxi present as the industrial operation system based on the running of Northwest Industrial and Commercial Company, and this system performed with the formation of technological institution which operational characteristics is computable and the operation of budget management system in government department that manage industry operation. We can see the economic model of state capitalism that comes from Northwest Industrial and Commercial Company has bearing significance to technological rationality of institutional-dimension of modern Shanxi.In chapter five, by synthesizing the spiritual dimension and the institutional dimension of technological rationality, the author puts forward the concept of Techno- cultural Community and points out that the technical committee founded in 1946-1948 by Northwest Industrial and Commercial Company could be seen as a representation of the community. Different from the general sense of the technical community which only follows the technical specification, this technical committee established on the basis of the rationalization of technology, and it follows not only the technical standard but also the social standard, which is cultural context attributes of technological rationality, and it combines spiritual and institutional dimension of the rationalization of technology and indicates the formation of the Techno-cultural Community in the modern society of Shanxi.At last, by comparing with basic form of techno-culture in general and summarizing the situation of rationalization of technology in the modern society of Shanxi, the writer points out that techno-culture is the basic form of social operation in the modern society of Shanxi,which characterized by objectification existence of technological rationality and technological rationalization of society, and it shows the disenchantment of the world that based on the technology rationality_has been fully showed and techno-culture has generated in fact in the modern society of Shanxi.
