A number of eriophyoid species are considered to be main pests on some crops, while others are known to be a quarantine threat for several countries.Among phytophagous mites the eriophyoid mites are the most diverse group and many of eriophyoid species have been recognized as economically important pests in agriculture and forestry all over the world. In China eriophyoid mites are widely distributed from tropic to the arctic circle.Zhejiang province is located in the southern part of the Yangtze River Delta on the southeast coast of China. The Zhejiang is famous for its well-known mountains include the Yandang,Putuo,Xuedou,Tianmu,Tiantai and Qingliang which are covered with green forest and wide range of vegetations and known as a treasure house of plants in southeast China. These green mountains provide ecologically suitable living environment for eriophyoid species richness. The purpose of this study was to provide comprehensive information about eriophyoid fauna, geographic distribution of eriophyoid mites and their systematic accounts from different localities of Zhejiang province,China.Present taxonomic study will provide a solid foundation to protect eriophyoid species resources and assess their classification system form Zhejiang and it will also provide the base for the better understanding of world Eriophyoidea classification.Prior to this study 55 eriophyoid species, belonging to 3 families,6 subfamilies,11 tribes and 29 genera, were known to occur in Zhejiang province,China. In the present study, further 121 species were recorded from different host plants in Zhejiang.During entire period of study,3 families,138 species belonging to 62 genera, including 2 new genera,41 new species and 11 new records were identified from Zhejiang;which is 13%(138/1059)of the total recorded eriophyoid species of China. In the present thesis, keys to the families, subfamilies and genera recorded from Zhejiang are provided. All the new species collected during entire period of study are described and illustrated in detail. For the species which are not seen in the present study, only their hosts and distribution are listed. The geographic distribution of the Eriophyoidea in Zhejiang province of China is discussed in the final part of the thesis.New genus:During present study, two new genera were recorded from Zhejiang. The genus Neobangkophyes gen.nov.is assigned to Eriophyoidea,Eriophyidae,Phyllocoptinae,Anthocoptini and Linacutus gen.nov.is assigned to Eriophyoidea,Diptilomiopidae,Rhyncaphytoptinae.New species:Cosella
