| On the basis of available researches, the author specifically illustrates Qi Kang’s architectural creation progress and summarizes his architectural design thought and architectural education thought by perfecting the literature review job and analyzing Qi Kang’s typical works. General speaking, my dissertation consists of six chapters.The first chapter introduces the purpose, significance and existing researches concerning my topic. Based on the proceeding tasks, the author finally makes sure the research content and research methods, and also proposes a possible research frame of the dissertation.The second chapter systematically figures out the course of Qi Kang’s architectural design practice and the thread of his creative thought which are composed of four periods, that is, the earlier stage for accumulation, the second stage of making a conspicuous figure, the third stage of exploring architectural creation in a deep-going way, and the flourishing stage of trying multivariate design creation. A dynamic research has been done on his architectural practice from three aspects which are regional creation, aesthetic composition and technique of expression. The efforts of systematically analyzing Qi Kang’s architectural practice assist the author in exploring the ideological foundation of Qi Kang’s “people-oriented philosophy” and specifically discussing the connection of “people” and “essence”.Chapter three aims to illustrate Qi Kang’s human-based ideology of design aesthetics which emphasizes spatio-temporal performance of rational pursuit and emotional expression. It is shown that Qi Kang takes historical factors and territorial factors into synthetical account, which endows architecture with rich connotations and satisfies people’s material and spiritual needs. Rational pursuit in architecture is reflected from five perspectives which are harmony of forms, rationality of functions, proper use of technology, acclimatization of surroundings, and dialectic architectural view. Emotional expression is mainly embodied with three aspects which contain conveyance of architectural potential significance, representation of the spirit in architectural age, and catering functions of architecture aesthetics.Chapter four thoroughly expounds Qi Kang’s architecture ethics concept which demands responsibility to the people and history. The connotations of Qi Kang’s architecture ethics concept are concluded by the author from micro level, meso level, and macro level. On the micro level, designers themselves and the realization of their professional duty attract attention; on the meso level, discussion is carried out concerning architecture designers’ social responsibility which refers to public welfare and justice in city planning, humanistic performance of architecture, and moral education of architecture to audiences; on the macro level, architects’ approaching responsibilities arouse concern, such as, sustained development of environment, appropriateness of urban morphology, and inheritance and innovation of traditional culture.Chapter five systematically and comprehensively expounds Qi Kang’s education thought. In general, Qi Kang’s teaching activities can be divided into school teaching practice and social teaching experience. Thereby, on the basis of accumulating relevant resource, the author analyzes and summarizes four key viewpoints to interpret Qi Kang’s education thought which include education serving the people, realizing integrated development of human beings, loyal to teachers’ self-cultivation, and keeping studying throughout one’s life. Finally, the author refines the distinct trait of Qi Kang’s education thought and elaborates its inspiring and directing significance to modern design education.In the conclusion part, a sequence of introspection has been done towards political factors in architectural design and cultural nationalism. Discussion also has been implemented on designers’ professional accomplishment, design teaching system, the inheritance of traditional design culture, and sustainable development, which offers great theoretical and practical significance.The main innovation of the dissertation lies in the following three aspects.Firstly, a diachronic study has been tried to illustrate Qi Kang’s architectural design practice. Qi Kang’s creation experience is divided into three phases and a dynamic study of each phase reveals the development and continuity of Qi Kang’s design thought and design practice.Secondly, a systematical discussion of Qi Kang’s “people-oriented thought” has been done. Qi Kang’s “people-oriented thought” includes “humanized design” aesthetics thought, “responsible to the people” ethics thought, and “serving the people” education thought. It comes to the conclusion that Qi Kang’s aesthetic ideology, ethics thought, and education thought is a trinity system.Thirdly, historical and comparative research methods are employed to rethink Qi Kang’s architectural design thought and education thought. On the basis of contemporary design condition, the analysis also deals with the practical significances of Qi Kang’s design philosophy. |
