As the development of economy,technology and society,communication became more frequently and closer all over the world,and the culture identical trend will sweep the world meanwhile.Architecture also became similar in this process of technique revolution.Under the guide of consumer culture,the society pay more attention on new function and material than culture.As a result,the cultural character of architecture and a lot of excellent form of traditional culture are getting disappear.The urban scene is getting more and more disorder.Under this reality,designers all over the world are introspecting,and thinking how to find out the value of their culture,in order to avoid being lost in the uniform international style.Designers become aware of culture is much more important than technology when we compare one area or country to another,which will impact further-reaching.Studying the traditional culture translation is finding an integrating point between tradition and architecture,and discover the tradition inheritance and development from the meaning carrying and expression.The traditional culture in architecture cannot be expressed without specific material,because architecture is expressed by form after all.The analysis of significance and form is right the key point of semiotics theory.As a result,this paper begins at the view of semiotics theory,uses the contemporary buildings' example,expands the analysis and discussion of traditional culture translation.Arrange the traditional translation concepts which related to tradition,architecture,and contemporary,analyze the continuation of Chinese architecture design,and combines the historical context of traditional translation.On this basis,build the model system of tradition translation by analyzing how the semiotics theory impact the architecture expression.And then,analyze the process of expression and understanding of traditional information translation from that subject and object.Finally,propose the “shape” and “meaning”,two levels of translation strategy in view of the inner and epitaxial layer of traditional translation.The continuation of traditional culture relates not only the impact of technology and material transformation,but also the new social thought,which is an abstract thinking process.In this process,we should get rid of the pure images and idiomatic phrases.On the basic of abstract and concise of special aesthetic consciousness of Chinese traditional culture and space consciousness,discover the new expression method which could correspond to the contemporary architecture art and aesthetic,and finally achieve the goal of continuation and innovation of traditional “shape and spirit”.
