Application Of Visual Design Support Tools In Urban Design

This paper explains systematically the content and effect of applying visualisation design technology tools for during urban design process,and examines the effect of these technology tools through the application of specific design projects.By analysing and sorting the demand and application methods of visualisation design technology tools in urban design,this paper proposes a system construction of applying these technology tools adapted to the new era of city design.Not only can professional designers make full use of the advantages of visualisation design technology tools to improve design performance,but also it provides effective support during urban design process for coordination design of relevant professionals,urban integrated management,and promoting public participation etc.From the analysis of urban design trends,it is proposed that urban design in the new era is different from the traditional design: urban development needs more refined design;emerging construction and renovation are integrated in the modern urban;it is necessary to conduct deep analysis to the city as a whole and to the regional relevant relationship in the complex urban space and etc.;there is a need to carry out comprehensive research,analysis,design,construction and management of the city with a focus on complexity and diversified city of the modern city and etc.Based on the development of visualisation design technology tools in different times and the application of different stages in various urban design projects,the basic methods,contents and demands of these technology tools in urban design are explained.Through different methods and their application effects of one-dimensional expression,three-dimensional expression,dynamic presentation and interactive presentation,the application techniques of visualisation technology tools in city design are explained.It is analysed the development of computer technology in bringing feasibility of the application of visualisation technology tools,the development of virtual reality system platform specifically used in new urban design projects,the combination of new and old urban design projects,public participation of urban design projects,public education projects for urban construction heritage and etc.The results from practical application are analysed and evaluated,physical information of visualisation technology tools users is collected for objective analysis(using pulse test and analysis system),and the special effects of applying visualisation technology tools in city design are examined.Through the deep understanding that urban design areas of the new era pay more attention to the region's history / culture and ecological system,planning and design of artistic public facilities,requiring a lasting,public,environmental feature,treating a large area as a design object and etc.,it is realised that the process of urban design requires visual and varied performance to assist the designer's creative thinking in this design process,as well as the need of high-level communication skills in delivering design concept and design results.While urban design is related to administration,residents,experts in related fields,construction units and other aspects of personnel,attention should be paid to space environment and a variety of related factors,architectural heritage protection and recycling,high quality living environment and methods and etc.Therefore participation,participation period and participation method in a design process vary in different ways,so that a design can continuing to evolve with views and eventually reach consensus.Visualisation design technology tools are indispensable,and there is need for a various range of scale and a variety of realistic expression ability,as well as performance and operation methods that are easy to understand,easy to operate,easy to save,interactive and fresh,in order to form an innovative approach for applying visualisation technology tools in the new era of urban design process.Through the application of visualisation design technology tools in various practical projects,this paper constructs a new urban design application system on the virtual reality technology platform,and provides reference for the future application development of visualisation technology tools for urban design.
