The research object of this paper is the relationship of Liu Yongji and China modern academic. This paper make a tentative study on the Chinese modern famous scholar Liu Yongji, Which is focused on the relationship between the times and scholar, the field and scholar,the subject and scholars. The whole thesis consists of five chapters. They are respectively discussed the academic tradition, the study relationship, the academic ecology, the academic paradigm, the academic influence. Some chapters are focused on the longitudinal time dimension, which is mainly involved the Chinese modern academic process; and the other chapters are focused on the first half of the20th century Chinese modern academic history of the transverse section. Based on the investigation to these dimensions, is devoted to give a preliminary academic coordinates to the scholarly practices and achievement of Liu Yongji.The breakthrough point of the first chapter is the academic transfoumation of China. In terms of academic background, family and educational background influence on Liu yongji's acdemic temperament and interest, which is a symbol of the traditional Chinese scholars in the academic foundation of typical form; and the education experience in mingde school, fudan public school, tsinghua preparatory school influence on yongji's academic field of vision and knowledge structure, which represents the first half of the20th century Chinses economist of common phenomenon in education background. In terms of academic context, Liu Yongji is active in the period of Chinese modern academic transformation, and he has a unique thinking of the Chinese cultural and academia fate. On the one hand, he explained his strong task sense as a "cultural conservatism", which is embodied in the following respects:the way of expression, the thinking Kernel and academic methods. On the other hand, his inappropriate in the academic thought, cultural paradigm and academic point is a symbol of fate which is "cultural conservatism" must undertake in20th century Chinese academic process. The focal point of the second chapter is the study relationship. This chapter looks at Liu Yongji's academic activities and his study relationship by investigating the relationship between Liu Yongji and the academic journals such as XUEHENG and XINGJUN. The Xueheng magazine and Xueheng School is a important starting point of the Liu Yongji's academic career and his study relationship, but also is the basic platform of him to pubish academic opinion and cultural point of view. In the dual impelling private friendship and cultural ideal, Liu Yongji was deeply involved in the cultural and academic cxchange which is related to the Xueheng magazine, and also established his academic reputation with the help of his academic influence. Compared with the Xueheng magazine, the Xiangjun magazine and the Xiangjun ccmmunity which's chief is Liu Yongji have more representative of his cultural ideal and attitude. The consistency in the cultural view between the Xiangjun magazine and the Xueheng magazine demonstrates Liu Yongji's cultural ideal and his attitude to the "New Culture Movement",and the differences in the theme and style between the Xiangjun magazine and the Xueheng magazine is the interpretation of Liu Yongji's lofty cultural attidude.The point of divergence of the third chapter is the academic ecology. This chapter discusses Liu Yongji's academic activities and academic exchanges in the space-time of the20th Century thirty's and forty's. In the academic space of the National Wuhan University College of liberal arts, the differences, communication and entanglement between the progressives such as Su Xuelin, Zhu Dongrun and Ye Shengtao and the conservatives such as Liu Yongji and Liu Boping, which provides an breakthrough point for the interactive relationship between Liu Yongji and the National Wuhan University College of liberal arts. In the academic space of the academic communication community, both Liu Yongji and Mei Guangdi, Chen Yingque, Wu Mi, Wu Fangji's personal friendship, or he and Miu Yue, Xie Chengtao's academic exchanges, all contribute to the study of Liu Yongji's academic status, reputation and influence.The research object of the fourth chapter is the practice of Liu Yongji's research on Chinese classical literature. This chapter focuses on the discussion of the academic system of Liu Yongji both from the level of academic practice and academic interests, also analyzes Liu Yongji's academic point of view of "with the classical theory to examine the classical authors and works". In terms of academic concept, the core of Liu Yongji's academic thinking is the the Chinese traditional academic ideas which represented by the Confucian literary ideas; and the dominant view of his classics study practice is the traditional academic methods which is represented by the view of "Zhi Ren Lun Shi". In terms of academic interests, both focus on the perspective of appreciation, and the follow to the Chinese traditional academic classics and research route, which all implied Liu Yongji has a preference for the tradional academic path.The center topic of the fifth chapter is the academic influence. This chapter discusses Liu Yongji and his students from the perspective of academic history. In terms of the relationship between teachers and students, Liu Yongji was identified as abide by traditional terchers's spiritual teacher image; and good shape the interaction between Liu Yongji and his students, also constitutes a20th Century academic inheritance of a cultural landscape. In terms of academic influence, the similarities and differences of Liu Yongji and his studens such as Cheng Qianfan, Hu Yunyi, shows different forms of academic experience of moderm academic context transfer.
