The research paper tests the relationship between emotional quotient with burnout,intention to leave and work performance:an example to Hong Kong Lingnan University by using mainly quantitative analysis supplemented with qualitative analysis.On the basis of literature review and theoretical framework,we use questionnare survey to Unversity Lecturers and their supervisors by our designed questionnaire based on Wong&Law(2002)El Scale(WLEIS),Pines&Aroson(1988),and Kaiguang&Liang(1999)designed questionnaires.After coding data and inputting data,we perform factor analysis,reliablility analysis,correlation analysis,hierarchical regression analysis,and conclude research findings.The research methodologies contain of two parts:quantitative and qualitative analysis survey.The research was sent 120 questionnaires to professors and Lecturers of the Further Education and Community College in the Hong Kong Lingnan University,and response rate is 64.14%.Data were collected between 20 July 2014 and 31 August 2014.Furthermore,stage 2 of data collection use qualitative method which is interview 4 professors and lecturers for further discussion and case study on 1 to 5 December 2014.All participation in the study was voluntary.There are some important findings by the reseach.Firstly of all,there is positive significant relationship between self emotional appraisal(SEA),other's emotional appraisal(OEA),use of emotion(UOE),regulation of emotion(ROE).Secondly,other's emotional appraisal(OEA)has positive significant relationship with burnout but other diemnsions has negative relationship with bournout.Thirdly,other's emotional appraisal(OEA)positive significant relationship with intention to leave but UOE and ROE has negative signicant elationship with intention to leave.Fourthly,Burnout is middle variable between emotional quotient and intention to leave.Lastly,Burnout is not a mediated variable bwtween emotional quotient and work performance.In theory contribution,this research trys to test the emotional quotient using systemic quantitative and qualitative analysis,and extends scope of statistical technology application to management studt.In Management and practical application,the research paper exerts psychology,sociology and managemnt theory on enterprise practical problems.Based on research findings,many researches shown that teacher occupation is a higher opportunities for intention to leave.Focus on the situation of Hong Kong Lingnan University will suggest as the below,the dissertation suggest two dimensions for improving the University situation including changing college policy and structure(for example,staff appraisal system,using 360 degree appraisal,building a good and supportive organizational culture,etc.).On the other hand,enhance teachers' emotional intelligence including EQ training,developing mentoring system and teachers'emotional encounter group.In innovation aspect,the dissertation uses the questionnaire of emotional intelligence(WLEIS)from Wong and Law.And inter-translation between Chinese and English in order to enrich and increase the measurement tool of EQ in Chinese.In practical aspect,the dissertation suggest to the solution of decreasing teacher stress and pressure.
